when it comes to allowable actions while president. Obama gave an interview the other day and said out constitution doesn't allow the kind of control over the Office of Attorney General that Trump is exercising. This after Eric Holder maintained that he "was Obama's wing man and would always have his back." That sounds a lot more personal to me. What do you think?
I would like to make one point of correction: the FDA commissioner was not fired; he resigned, Mr. Athens.
I also want to add some perspective as someone who lives in North Carolina. At the beginning of 2025, North Carolina banned vapes, or at least moved toward banning certain types of vapes. For a while, many vape stores looked empty. Now, those same stores are full again, which makes me wonder what kinds of vape deals or policy changes are happening behind the scenes.
I do not necessarily want to know how the sausage is being made, but I do think it is worth questioning how these decisions are being handled. RFK Jr. has said that fruity vape flavors are a problem.
At the end of the day, if we are saying these policies are “for health,” then we should keep the focus there and make sure the laws, enforcement, and public health decisions actually reflect that.
I stand corrected legally, Katie. I am using the term "fired" in a colloquial sense, such that if someone is being pressured to resign, to retire, or to be reassigned from their position, they are effectively being "fired". Their paperwork will show it was a voluntary action, which may be favorable for their benefits. On job applications, you'll usually find a question like "Were you ever fired or forced to resign from a position? If yes, please explain." And make no mistake, Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi were both "fired".
I'm busting your chops. He was fired too. He just wasn't on live TV when he was. BUT I didn't know that we HAD a FDA Commissioner! Red dye, fake meat, meat other countries wont eat... Bang up job!
