who were actually the oppressors and slaveowners.  It shouldn't be surprising that the south mostly voted for the likes of W.  Ignorant then and ignorant now!!!!!

Because instead of reaching out to the majority and trying to find common ground, the left is so embittered that all they can do is ridicule the areas that went for Bush.

Make fun all you want, but remember, you are making fun of the MAJORITY :-)

this map is a clever way to try to put down the red states by associating them with slavery. If you can't see that, God help you.

But to address the question, 135 years ago these were all DEMOCRAT states. So my response is that it is the DEMOCRATIC party that supported slavery and opposed freeing the slaves. That is not my opinion, that IS HISTORY!!

If Lincoln would've known what his party would eventually rot into, he would switched party affiliations in a heartbeat.  To think a great man such as Lincoln would even be remotely connected on any level with the sludge that is Shrub is utterly nauseating.

The south won the war: by subversion.  :-)

... manufacturing, technology, import/export, knowledge based industrial (blue) vs agricultural / manufacturing / lo-tech (red)?

Somebody earlier had put up an interesting observation that the blue states were much more hetrogeneous than the red states.  I think the cultural divide is around that, rather than these phony "moral" issues.
