People are asking all sorts of questions about reactionary policies, and getting no answers.
Let's review a few basics: Why is Bush/Rumsfeld bungling their war in Iraq so badly? How much money and blood will it take before they can figure it out?
Why haven't they caught OBL?
Why are reactionaries so worried about building a wall against Mexicans, when EVERY terrorist has come into the US legally? Is it because they're stupid?
Why are reactionaries more worried about Federal judges than terrorists? Why do they send money to people like Pat Robertson, who preaches that Americans cause terror attacks and other disasters by tolerating queers and teaching evolution in schools? Is it because they're stupid? Or is it pure unmitigated bigotry and maliciousness?
It couldn’t be more clear to anyone with more than half-a-brain. Shall we start calling you BOB-THE HALF-A-BRAIN? or Maybe just "HALF-A-BRAIN" for short?
a couple of the terrorists were native born US citizens. Remember Little Timmy McVeigh and his buddy? Man, those fellows held the record for a while.
And ya have to give the Aryan nation credit. Generally a bunch of incompetent bumblers who couldn't knock off more than a few pre-schoolers, but that's what happens when your core constituency is mostly mentally deficient.
Let me offer fear as a possible answer to your last two questions in your final paragraph. People generally hate what they fear and fear what they hate, but which comes first? A classic chicken-egg question.
If fear is a substantial part of the answer, perhaps those of us less frightened ought to try a different tack with those we find ourselves in disagreement? Odious as some ofthem may be.
But there's always the problem of resource management, and let's face it, anybody will ignore a problem if they can afford to. Sometimes force or compulsion is the most economical solution to a problem.
And then there's the Sgt Major syndrome that is often necessary to break ruts in bureaucracy - you know, just overturn a desk as a means of communication. It may be kinder than firing them, who knows?
I think people, and especially conventionally educated ones, tend to think that words are the primary means of communication, and therefore tend to Mirandize other people instead of communicating.
My sense is that words are just fringes around the edges, that what you do is the primary means of communication; and of course, there are always many ways of seeing an event or action.
