24 hours after Manchin dropped his bombshell on Fox News Sunday and the recrimination stories are already being published.

But you might want to consider that this issue may not actually be over, so try not to splooge yourselves with joy.

Re Manchin’s “West Virginians Don’t Let Themselves Get Pushed Around” comment on local WV radio this morning.

But that wont solve the problem. The WH and Democratic leadership screwed this one up from the beginning. Instead of waiting until the end and using a maximum pressure campaign on Manchin,. they should have got him on board at the beginning.  
Manchin was never the type of guy that can get bought off, legally speaking. Anyone that knows him calls him a person of principles. He was never going to support things that AOC and Bernie supported and to think he would have, was just incredibly foolish. He is a republican, albeit a moderate one, who just happens to have a "D" next to his name. This is an error the Carvilles, Begalas, etc would not have made.
I would suggest they start over, with a new team, and get everything they can from Manchin and pass a more scaled down version of BBB. If Progressives will stick with the "Hell no, I wont kiss Manchin's ass" they are only hurting their party for the midterms and screwing over their own constituency by not enacting programs that will help them.  
Manchin isn't saying no to anything and everything, he is saying no to this specific bill.  The solution is obvious; put EVERYTHING in the bill that Manchin will support and pass the damn thing in January. Americans have had a very tough year. More infighting, sniping and name calling will just further the view to so many that Democrats cant govern and dont care about the middle class. Is that really the impression we want to give the country in an election year?

They are going to want to embarrass him, and the Republicans, by forcing a vote. I don't believe, in this case, it is good politics although it might make some people feel good to do so. Every damn Republican will then point to Manchin for cover. "You see, this bill is SO bad that even DEMOCRAT Joe Manchin wont vote for it!!!!"  
But this humiliation is what the Progressives are going to demand. Leadership will have to play along, especially if they want the scaled down version of BBB to eventually pass, for it must imho, for us to have a shot at the midterms.  
On the other hand, the Progressives feel like they have bent over backwards to appease Manchin. They started off with a $6T bill, lowered it to 3.5T, then 2, then...well you get the idea. My concern is the they will feel so burnt, so scorned, they will not under any circumstances back a Manchin BBB bill. This is where the new team I speak of comes in to play and sorts this all out. The current group in the WH and leadership is incapable, imo.

do not support BBB.  It's a loser, time to abandon it and take up the items that have merit individually.  They may get some Bipartisan support that way.  There are a few good items that have merit, and these could be easily passed WITHOUT the social and climate bullshit dragging them down.

1) Biden and Manchin had a cordial phone chat yesterday and agreed to keep working on a deal after New Years.
2) The biggest coal mining union, which has been a major Manchin supporter, expressed distress at the seeming death of the BBB bill because -- wait for it -- the bill contained a lot of good things for coal miners.
Gawd, it's boring to always be right...

For those who didn’t follow the link, this is an NRCC internal poll taken in battleground states.  This type of polling hoped to shape Republican messaging used in the most competitive House races.

Without a source I find this VERY hard to believe, especially coming form you....Hey but check this out, you and you buddies.
It shows an overwhelming support for the BBB.

Do you have an affinity for the Mac Davis song from 1980 "It's Hard to Be Humble?"  I always think of the song when you reference saying "It's hard to be humble when I'm right all the time," although in the song, the line is, "Oh, Lord, it's hard to be humble...when you're perfect in every way."  It's a hilarious song; just missed making the top 40 in 1980.

Seems with all the news being covered with this Manchin Vs BBB...It seems like more people are learning what's really in it and the news media is now doing the messaging that the Dems failed to do. There's an uptick in people looking into what's this bill is actually about, in other words what's with all the fuss. And now they're beginning to see what's in it and more and more are liking it.
Look at the coal miners concerns with Manchin on this, they want him to rethink this and it's only the second day...
Give it time.....If not now, then when the Dem retake the house and solidify their position in the Senate...There's good messaging here.

I like most of Mac Davis' songs.  He wrote Elvis Presley's 1969 hit "In the Ghetto."  If I had to pick my favorite of Mac's, it would probably be "One Hell of a Woman."
