The Democrats are searching for ways to further gouge the public out of our hard earned funds.
$10 for a bicycle license, and a $100 fine for not having one.

Listen to the reasoning behind the proposal. How pathetic, and dishonest.

Bike riders are the rudest people on the road. And they are allowed to break any and all laws. They would make a great source of revenue to any city whether licensing them or fining them. Although to be fair, their ass cracks do brighten my day sometimes.

A few towns in California started doing that over 60 years ago. Don't know if they still require bike registration. Haven't lived in North Hollywood since 1955. With a $25/year permit, you could also burn your household trash in the back yard. My grandfather had a very large brick incinerator, and he would burn the neighbors' trash....for a fee. Gotta love the Swiss.

She withdrew the bill right away.  I have seen this before when a representative proposed legislation that he (or she) know won't pass, but he does it to make a point.  Maybe a bit of publicity about bike safety will get people to think when they are riding.

In "The Sunshine State" there are bicyclists out 365-24/7. I can't recall how many times I've looked both ways, then had two wheeled lightning appear from behind a sign or hedge, nearly ramming my fender and getting thrown over the hood. Then they have the nerve to scream expletives when they were roaring down the side walk against the flow of traffic. It's bad enough that you have to expect it from children, but usually it's adults doing this.
