If you bothered to follow the link titled "clarification", you might have read something like this:

"Political common ground is harder to find these days than affordable real estate inside the Beltway.  But the responses in opposition to this bill that have emerged in the past 24 hours from Republicans, Democrats, Greens, Libertarians show that it can be found.  The common ground I see in these responses is that people don't want more government intrusion into their private medical decisions."

So that's what the "other side" has to say about just another useless, over-reaching legislative proposal. Thankfully, it sounds like this one will be shot down. But in all honesty, who can really say for sure that the next one won't come from a Democrat?

knee jerk?

Legislation that attempts to deprive people of basic freedoms such as privacy, comes about because of political expediency or fear. It has nothing to do with political party. A cursory search of history will more than likely show that Democrats are as capable of demagoguery as are Republicans.

away comes about because of fear.  That is exactly what is happening in our country today, and it is fear of terrorists that is causing it to happen.

All of us, of all political stripes, should work to stop this.
