I am shocked to find that negative campaigning works!

Amazed that dirty tricks are an effective part of the GOP arsenal!

Stupefied that the basic lack of intelect of the American electorate can be manipulated so easily!

NOT!

And you wonder why the Euros look at us and wonder how we have achieved our 15 minutes on top?  I guess we had all better start learning Chinese- cuz GW will have us hung out to dry and a province of the Chinese polity in no time...

A quote pulled directly from the article that you linked.  People can make up their own minds as to what the information mean.

"•In Pennsylvania, Bush and Kerry each had 47% of likely voters; independent Ralph Nader was at 2%. Among battleground states, Pennsylvania is second only to Florida in number of electoral votes, with 21. Gore carried the state by 5 percentage points.

•In Wisconsin, Bush led Kerry among likely voters, 48%-45%. Nader had 4%. Gore won the Badger State. It has 10 electoral votes.

•In Iowa, Kerry led Bush among likely voters, 51%-45%. Nader was at 2%. Gore narrowly carried the state. It has seven electoral votes.

Kerry fared better among the larger pool of registered voters. He leads in Pennsylvania by 49%-43%, in Wisconsin by 47%-45% and in Iowa by 50%-44%."

look at the polls of a month ago!

You might just see a trend in the making, and I don't think you will be any too pleased.

And if Bush gets that convention bounce that was so evasive of Hanoi and the hack, many posters on this board will be blowing snot bubbles next week.

Next you're going to attempt tell us that the Republicans brought up Vietnam!

Negative campaigning?  Do you remember MoveOn.orgs piece about Hitler and Bush?  And the fact that your guys have spent over $250 million all on negative campaigning to the Swifties $1.3 million?  The problem you have is you ran a fucking traitor who has no ideas, and it would seem that quite a few democrats across the country are now saying "ANYBODY BY KERRY!"

Oh, Oh, FUCK the euros as if any of them would even have a fucking country if it weren't for our "15 minutes"!  You might consider relocating since  you seem to share their unfounded haughtiness.

I see, so if the rest of the world looks at us and thinks we are nuts- they must be wrong.

Our Emperor not only has no clothes, but no brain, no heart and little clue...

What a fun world you live in Bribri!  Uncluttered by any harsh realities... or others' opinions.

Dream on my friend...

Are you working on your Chinese?  You seem to vote that way!

Nee How ma?

...  Two ads submitted to MoveOn's anti-Bush ad contest last year did make that comparison (Bush to Hitler), and at least one was posted briefly on the organization's website. But MoveOn quickly removed it and disassociated itself from the offending ads -- and,  ... , they never appeared on the air or in print.

"so if the rest of the world looks at us and thinks we are nuts- they must be wrong."

The whole world Sully?

United Kingdom, Spain, Australia , Kuwait, Poland, Albania, Romania, Czech Republic, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Japan. South Korea, Denmark, Netherlands,  Hungary, Estonia,, Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Georgia, Philippines, Uzbekistan, Colombia,El Salvador, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Honduras, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Iceland, Singapore, Mongolia, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Solomon Islands, Palau, Panama, Qatar, Israel, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan are members of the Coalition of the Willing.

Shit, who's left, france, Germany, China, Mexico & canada?  Is that your WHOLE WORLD?   "Uncluttered by any harsh realities... or others' opinions."  Well you got that right, I couldn't give a rats ass for any of those countries opinions.

What's interesting to me is how many of those countries have suffered from the tyranny of communism or other dictatorial regimes in the last century and are now willing to help depose the tyranny of sadam and help rebuild a Free Iraq.

Sully, your reality is sullied by your lack of knowlege, which I believe may have led you to the dark side.

Our President, will be re-elected by a huge majority in November.  Give that relocation idea a thought, with your intelligence, you might be able to help Germany or France with their double digit unemployment problems.

Four more years!  Four more years!

The following letter was delivered to the Kerry Campaign by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
P.O. Box 26184
Alexandria, Virginia 22313

August 31, 2004

Senator John Kerry
901 15th Street NW
Washington, DC  20005

Dear Senator Kerry:

As you prepare for your address before the American Legion in Nashville, Tennessee, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth encourages you to use this opportunity to clarify your actions in Vietnam and your statements about your fellow Veterans and shipmates when you returned home.  Since you have made your four-month tour in Vietnam the centerpiece of your campaign, we respectfully insist that you be truthful.  The public is owed a full and honest accounting of your actions.  Veterans are owed an apology from you and an acknowledgement that there was no basis in fact for the accusations you made against them.

We urge you to:

1.  Apologize for your conduct once you returned from Vietnam. Your exaggerated testimony before the US Senate; the blanket indictment of your fellow veterans; throwing away medals and ribbons; all of these actions dishonored America and the armed forces. Your rhetoric and actions were not only wrong, they aided the enemy and brought great pain to POW's, veterans and their families.

2.  Clarify the conflicting accounts involving the Bay Hap River incident of March 13, 1969 (Bronze Star and 3rd Purple Heart).  You have now described three different versions of this incident.  In the first version of this incident presented during the Democrat National Convention, you stated:  "No man left behind," suggesting to the American people that you alone stayed on the river to rescue Mr. Rassmann.  Later, when forced to acknowledge conflicting eyewitness testimony from fellow swift boat veterans, you said that your boat left the scene to return moments later to retrieve Jim Rassmann from the water. Yet, in another version of the same incident discovered in the Congressional Record, you reported that your boat struck a mine and Rassmann fell off the boat.  Mr. Kerry, please explain to your fellow veterans and the American people which version is the truth.

3.  Affirm that the injuries for which you received your purple hearts never required any medical treatment beyond perhaps a bandage and that, in all instances, these injuries were self-inflicted and came from your own weapon. Further, that if any of these purple hearts were falsely awarded, that you would not have been eligible to leave Vietnam after serving only four months.

4.  Acknowledge what your own biographer is now saying, that the Christmas in Cambodia claim is "obviously wrong," that you were never in Cambodia over Christmas or any other time during your brief, four-month tour in Vietnam and that your statements before the United States Senate in 1986 were false.

If you undertake these steps we will be satisfied that the American public has been sufficiently apprised as to these aspects of your career, and we will discontinue the media advertisements you have sought so fervently to silence.

Please know that Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are eager to close our own personal chapters on Vietnam and instead focus on the war we're currently fighting — the ongoing war on terrorism.  In the absence of full public disclosure and a public apology, we will continue efforts to carry our message to an ever-expanding base of grassroots supporters.

Senator Kerry, we want to get Vietnam behind us.  But, we can only do so if the truth is told.

We respectfully await your reply.

Sincerely,

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth

negative campaigning is practiced by both parties. That is an undeniable fact. Neither side is above dirty tricks. And the Europeans are no noble saints when it comes to their political campaigns, not by any means.

Politics ain't beanbag. It's the same all over. Hell, in some countries it's literally bloody.

Maybe you're upset because the Republicans are better at the game than the Democrats this time around.

Of course I would have made up my mind then, so the polls to me will be irrelavant.  Polls from two months ago maean about as much as the ones today, nothing.  I posted simply to show that James did not capture the full story in his post, but doing such a thing is consistent with his persona.

Not better- willing to go lower.  So far we do pretty well pointing to the ACTUAL record.

Bush IS stupid, HAS gotten us into a war with NO REASON, FAILED to finish another war.  DID NOTHING while the economy plummetted, ALLOWS rich allies to PLUNDER public till, and secure favourable govt. contracts.  IS actively DESTROYING Ecology, IS CHRISTIAN NUTCASE.  These are largely factual- in fact points of pride for the GOP- they were POLICIES.

Kerry has little public record to assail, as he is only recently a mover and shaker in the party. So the GOP makes shit up.

And the Dems seem afraid to call them on it, while the GOP smells that it works and pours it on KNOWING IT IS A LIE.  That is unfortunately typical, but hardly great campaigning.

Like I said, Dems HOPE that electorate will see the light and make an informed choice, GOP KNOWS the ELECTORATE IS dim and easily manipulated and tries to make that choice as poorly informed as possible.

That you are proud of the canards, subterfuge and dissembling put out by your party is a problem you will have to face when sleeping.  I got tired of it and crossed the aisle- and they were just cracking the seal in Reagan's day....

But then this is the board for fornicators, so I suppose we ought to wallow in the mud and enjoy it.

Just stop pretending to have any moral high ground left.  That left the GOP when the Supreme Court did what it was paid for to do....
