The Dems cant stop a single one. All they can do is delay the process. BFD.

Garland was STOPPED so the headline on your linked article is factually inaccurate. Trump's appointee confirmations will only be lengthened, not stopped.

And with Joe Manchin and other red state Dems up for re-election, this tactic wont last as long as you think as they will bitch publically making it a bi-partisan effort to get those posts filled.

The Dem party should really be concerned with making their party "great again" not making lame, futile efforts to attempt to thwart the inevitable

"The Dems cant stop a single one."

Technically you are correct. However, some of his appointees, when grilled, and being subject to public scrutiny and opinion, may very well choose to withdraw.

I would suggest the Democratic response should be one of "elevators and mud." hehe! And by that I mean we should whisk the ones by "elevator" to the top floor quickly to confirm those that do not seem to have any real "baggage" so that will make us look so much more reasonable when we hold our fire for the really heinous choices and stick them in "mud." Yes, its a game, this politics, but it is a game our side must play as our opponents love to revel in it. They play for keeps and its about time our team did as well!

I, for one, will be very interested to see how the Dems play it. My guess is they'll be selective in whose nominations they slow down; that they cooperate on infrastructure and financial re-patriation bills; and that they totally block any seriously right-wing SCOTUS nominee.  The latter is exactly what the Reps deserve. Hey, they're the ones who said the court works just fine with 8 justices.  I can think of only one argument against this: if the replacement for Scalia is right wing it won't change the balance of the court.  If the Dems block it and the Reps decide to use the nuclear option and then The Notorious RBG croaks, THEN the libs have a YUGE problem.  They have to hope that certain Rep. Senators, like Hatch, who have already said they won't agree to end the filibuster, stick to their guns.  It should be an interesting poker game to watch.

at his confirmation hearing. Here is a guy who couldn’t answer a single question during the primary debates, except in vague generalities (“what about your tax plan” –“I think it should be fair”); who confused “Hamas” with “hummus” (for those of you who have never dined at Lebanese Taverna in D.C., hummus is a delicious garlicky mash of chick peas) ; who believes Obamacare is “the worst thing that has happened in this country since slavery”; who said the US is “very much like Nazi Germany” ; and who vowed to fight…sign…. against Obama’s “third term.”

Yeah, that is who we need to run an agency dedicated to addressing complex housing problems in high poverty areas. The problem with Carson is you can’t really satirize him on Saturday Night Live. If he gets a question about “redlining,” or “Section 8,” it is going to be real embarrassing. He is a good man but way out of league here.

Admit it- Sarah Palin would be so much better qualified

The delays are going to be implemented mainly by demanding up to 30 hours of debate for each nominee. Given the normal calendar of the Senate, this would extend the confirmation dates.

What's to stop the Republicans from changing their calendar to work mores day and work longer days? I haven't researched the Senate rules on this but if the Democrats want to debate then keep the lights on, let them talk and get it over with.

Mad Dog will most likely require 60 votes. We'll see.

Of course this Dem tactic is not the same as Garland's, similar but not the same. If the Dems want to "up the ante" then maybe some more "turn about will be fair play" and the filibuster buster (I hate the term nuclear option) will be invoked to get someone like Ted Cruz onto the SCOTUS.

Two more things:
1) Trump won't let this drop without a fight the way old Mitch McConnell would probably proceed. Remember that about half the Dems but only 15% of the Republicans  are up for re-election in 2 years.
2) We haven't really seen yet what path Trump's deal making plans are going to take. He very well could begin to offer Dems far more than anyone expects, but of course only for certain agreements and actions in return. I think we are in for some D.C. capital hill action like no one has ever seen before.

Carson is a terrible choice for HUD. Brutal.

Surgeon General made sense, and one can at least make somewhat of a case for HHS, but HUD???

And I will admit it. Palin would have been MUCH more qualified then BC and I wouldn't want her anywhere near that post either

...as if it's the only place in the country where you can get hummus?  There are a dozen restaurants in L.A. alone that have better Lebanese food - and much cheaper as well.  Why do you assume no one but you knows what hummus is so you have to explain it to us?  And FYI - hummus also has tahini, olive oil, and paprika, etc.

You've already proven yourself to be a moron, but now you've shown yourself to be a snobby moron.  Idjit!

.... in 2008 who was the only Obama selection that received a lot of scrutiny? Hillary. The rest were pretty much rubber stamped as a courtesy and a realization that to oppose cabinet selections is futile. Ohio senator Sherrod Brown may be skating on thin ice. When I last looked Trump took Ohio. What's happening is that middle class white America is tired of being ignored and being called "racist ". You don't have to believe me. Just look to Joe Biden's spin on this!

rather than Ben Carson, and I get a kickback for each new customer that orders hummus.  You were the only one on the Board to figure that out.

Damn, you are smarter than I thought.

My next post will be about Carson’s plan to capture the covert  Iranian terrorist, Baba Ghanoush.  He may need your help, so don’t go anywhere until he calls
