on the absurd justification that the Senate represents rich people while the house represents "workers."   However, originally, Senators were not elected by the people of each state, they were selected by the State Legislature of each State and their duty was to the interests of the State they represented, whereas the House members are accountable to the people who elected them.  This is why the House term is two years so that the people can "throw the bums out" more quickly, and the Senate term is six years because the interests of State are longer term.
