My beautiful date (not a provider) dragged me (I need rest these days), to a business meeting at the golf club the other night (I hate golf, lol), "somewhere" around the West side of Los Angeles. Anyway, normally they are about 100 of the most conservative rich you can imagine (not my crowd I am not that conservative at all, that's why I said I was dragged). Maybe there were 5 Democrats in the lot, but I doubt it. Both during the pre-dinner drink-fest and at my dinner table of 10, I was stunned to hear the anti-Bush talk. It was pretty bitter. As much as they dislike Kerry, they're going to vote for him. Why? Far and away it's because of the huge deficits that are being run up because of "Bush pissing away our money" in unnecessary wars. (Follow the money!) Secondarily, they're also "annoyed with the religous kooks", and the government wasting time on "gay marriage" instead of focusing on "real issues".
If that's any indication of Bush's support I think he may have a problem. If he is loosing THAT kind of Republican he is in more trouble than I thought.I know the type, Orange County or Pacific Palisades ultra pro-Reagan California Conservatives. I'm semi shocked, like I said, if he is losing these sorts of conservatives in the midwest and south he is DONE.
I am also in an environment surrounded by Republicans ... it is so surprising that how much contempt there is for this adminstration among the rich and republicans.
I think George Soros so well epitomizes the super rich who are intelligent enough to see the light ...
I just have such hard time believing this election is going to be close!
He spends 1/5 of the money is projected to raise overall, just in the 1st month of campaigning and still can't pull from Kerry beyond the margin of error in the major polls. Plus, this Dick Clarke fiasco, which is compounded by previous criticism from O'Neill pretty much saying the same thing just blew 40 million dollars. Ouch!!
Now, IRAQ is literally turning to "hell." Probably it isn't so but that's what the media is portraying right now. It's bad enough that I perceive it to be this way for Bush and I don't even watch television. I get this from Yahoo, MSN, ABCNEWS.com, and NPR -- that's it. Imagine all those people that watch 5 hours of T.V. everyday. I think Saddam put a curse on both Bushes.
The last four years have been pretty amazing. Bankrupting the Treasury and handing it over to Big Oil & the military/industrial complex. The 9/11 deal (and sportsfans, if you think it's bad now, just wait until summertime). Soemhow, if you call the Administration on this you get called unpatriotic. Excuse me fellas, but dissent is VERY patriotic. Anyone remember the 1st Amendment? The 4th is history, and they're working ont his one.
Like I said a couple of weeks ago, when Bill O'Reilly, Rupert's lapdog, starts busting on Witless, you know his time is limited, one way or another. Kerry is really one of them, but a kindler, gentler, more intelligent version of the same. The fact the Kerry could even be bankable as a presidential candidate tells you a lot about how horrible a job W has done.
I was in the Deep South last week, when I bumped into the prototypical W voter in a gas station. Chain smoking, working class, high school educated-maybe, white, Confederate flag on his leathers and the back of his 4x4. I'm guessing as long as his neiborhood remains lily white, W's ok with him, even if his kid comes home from Iraq in a body bag. Which is the essence of the GOP's "Southern Strategy". That, and disenfranchising the black vote whenever possible. Hmm, and I thought the South lost the Civil War. Could've fooled me.
Best GOP president in my lifetime? Tossup between Clinton & Nixon.
