You know--------I noticed on the net that there's a great deal of "self-aggrandizing" to make one "look better" As Capt Renault ( the immortal Claude Rains ) said in the movie "Casablanca", I am SHOCKED to find gambling in this establishment"-----It seems that every male on the net, particularly on TER, is over 6' feet tall, has a big dick & a lotta $--------LMAO !

Most prominent case in point------- a certain P&R poster who claims to have wads of cash, posts here more often than a street person in a county library & "claims" that 4 theatres showing
"Atlas Shrugged" was "sold out"-----LMAO !

In re to "Atlas Shrugged", more likely that this poster's SO wouldn't let him see it, or, even more likely, he couldn't afford the ticket price because he couldn't get the $ from scrounging recyclables------LOL !

Someone posting negative reviews of the movie is performing exercise in futility, because reviewers will be righfully dismissed as "hostile liberals". However, I will give the afforementioned poster
benefit of the doubt. Box office returns will be published Mon. Let's see how Rand's cinematic exercise in Libertarianism plays out then. If film does well, I will "gracefully concede"

In the meantime, posted below is a pic supposedly based on the life of the "Rand supporter" here. Unlike "Atlas Shrugged" however, it was a good movie-----:)

I still fail to see why Atlas Shrugged is such a large point of contention here.

Even a blabbermouth like me really has nothing to say on the subject, and you will find me conspicuously missing from most threading regarding the subject.

since the film is playing in a limited number of theatres ( 300 ), most likely its TOTAL take will be weak ; however ( as I strongly suspect ), right wing "think tanks" will PAY their "followers" to see the film, to boost its revenues,so the film may do well on a PER SCREEN
BASIS. However , after that, good guess that grosses will plummet.

GaG wonders why I talk about this ? I find "Rand cultists" to be irritating "sheep" in the same manner that I find Scientologists to be "irritating sheep followers" of L Ron Hubbard.

Lastly, GaG, poster I was talking about wasn't you------LOL !

I really am 6' tall and have a HUGE dick!  Just ask the provider I saw on Thursday.  Why would she lie?
LOL!
As for the "movie,"  I'm happy to wait for the weekend totals on Monday.  Only the truly delusional could imagine it will make more than chump change.  And don't bet on there being a Part 2 or Part 3.
PS:  When the pitiful returns are in, I can't wait for a certain cultist to blame a conspiracy on lefty reviewers.  Whiners will always find an excuse.

the fact that you felt so compelled to post this must mean I am the center of your thoughts!!!!

Guess I should feel guilty because I don't care what you think and don't really think about you at all :-)

then they have no business critiquing the movie. Ebert & Travers readily come to mind. They are NOT the target market for most of what's out there, but they continue to critique everything. Have you read the mindless drivel they post for movies made for children? Have you seen how they shred chick-flicks? They critique for what they WANT the movie to be, not for what it is.

So it'll be for this one. They aren't the target market and they'll critique it anyway, just on general principles (if they haven't already).

I watch what I want and don't even read what any professional critic says about any movie. I don't often listen to my friends, either, because their tastes are different than mine. I've managed to find some pretty special gems out there without listening to the critics.

Will I see "Atlas Shrugged"? Probably not. While I enjoyed the book immensely, I detest movies that are in parts that have no verifiable Part 2 or Part 3. I knew that Lord of the Rings had all its parts because I knew they'd filmed the whole thing. I don't remember hearing that Atlas Shrugged has the same kind of claim behind it.
