It was just over a week ago that the Spanish grid operator Red Electrica boasted of reaching 100 per cent renewables for the first time – meaning that its wind, solar and hydro resources were delivering more electricity than needed to meet local demand.

“Today, April 16, renewables are generating enough to cover the demand of the peninsular electricity system,” Red Electrica posted on LinkedIn. The share of renewables peaked at 100.6 per cent, just after 11am.

It was a landmark moment. A few days later, solar alone reached record output of more than 20 gigawatts, and over the last month, the share of wind, solar and hydro averaged 68 per cent of electricity demand in Spain, or 63 per cent over the first quarter of the year.

That’s a LIE.  Spain’s power grid was run solely by renewable energy for ONE DAY ONLY - April 16.  willy claimed the blackout occurred because Spain was using ONLY renewable energy on the day of the blackout.

No, he didn’t. Are you so stupid you thought anyone would believe that claim? All Willy did was point out the blackout hit just a week after Spain hit 100% renewable generation. He left the conclusions drawn to the reader.

Go back to the drawing board and try again.

It was Mel Brooks best film.

My dad loved his films, I saw them all growing up. It was kind of a family tradition to put them on. Blazing Saddles was great but the film’s ending was a mess. Casting Rick Moranis as a Darth Vader character was brilliant. I’m convinced that Daphne Zuniga in Spaceballs is why I have a thing for brunettes.

That’s not accurate. What is accurate is that 100% of their power has been derived from renewables. Willy used the wrong tense. That doesn’t make it a lie.

And then you assign motive…

I’ve already pointed out to you above that Willy made no such claim, so I’m curious why you went back to that well.

Spain just demolished their nuclear power generators…

…to go more renewable energy. And then their power grid failed.  

 
This is what happens when you let idiot politicians make decisions that should be made by civil engineers. And it was all done to fix a problem that doesn’t even exist.
