Senator Dave Hansen backed over his 2 year old grandaughter in his driveway killing her .. Accidents happen when you least expect them ..neither Hansen or his wife knew their grandaughter had run outside..I was taught at a early age to physically walk behind my car and examine before backing up. Twice in my life I have looked before backing up and there was someone sleeping behind my car..Once at a party at a residence{that guy had his head under my tire} and once on a side street off Wisconsin. I have had nunerous friends who have backed up over their pets..This is not a political issue but a public safety issue.

by enacting much stiffer licensing requirements for automobile purchases and ownership.

Limitations such as weight & horsepower should be placed on standard licenses so that only the most trained and cognizant drivers can purchase/drive vehicles weighing over 3000lbs or having more than 150 horsepower.

Car keys should be legally mandated that they are securely stored so that minors or criminals can’t get to them, in addition harsh criminal penalties and civil liabilities should be placed upon those who have their keys/vehicles unknowingly stolen from them and used in the act of a crime(or tragic accident).

The automobile manufacturers should be held liable for any vehicle they produce, being used in such a way as to be illegal, injurious or deadly.

“Denver Boots” or wheel chocks should be mandated to be put on/at all four wheels of a car when parked so that the driver is forced to do a complete observing of possible dangers that may have arisen when returning to their car.

Perhaps if the perquisites for the “privilege” of driving were raised; the annual accident/death rate would drop as low as that of those who exercise their legal Constitutional “Right” to own a gun.

lefty knee jerk response.

Whow,  All the laws Goober wants would be the worst nightmare if ever enacted.

but in my opinion, his private life, and the lives of his family members is in shambles...

If more of us, would take the time to take care of our own business, check stuff, read the fine print... etc.  We really would not need the government intrusion on every friggin thing.  We would not need laws that REQUIRE lawyers to interpret.  but know what, we don't.

Personally, I would like one law that states you have to take a 6-month course on becoming a family - before you can start a family - the course would include finance, education goals and requirements for kids, some first aid and medicine, some safety instruction, and finally, my kicker, administrative skill.....   cause let me tell you, with 5 soccer teams between two kids, karate, band and student council, not to mention basketball.... whew!  this is my down week, the kidds are on vacation with their mom, but it all starts up again next week....lol!!!

But laws... to regulate everything... no thanks.

All guns confiscated, all big outboard boat motors confiscated, all ATVs confiscated, all snowmobiles confiscated.  And, all thermistats in houses monitored by the gov, all hot water heaters monitored by the gov.  And don't forget the carbon tax. I'm sure he would want that.

My whole rant was sarcastic metaphor comparing the wide open range of heavy, fast and very deadly cars available to the most common, rudimentary trained citizen under the "privilege" of a drivers license; but the Second Amendment Constitutional "RIGHT" to own a gun is scrutinized and marginalized every which way a leftist legislature can.

lets count on our cell phone and 911 to get a police officer to our side timely enough to thwart the felon who is jacking your SUV out from under you.
OR
Hope that the home invasion robbers standing before you allow you enough time to re-assemble the gun you own for home protection that your particular State or city mandates being stored "dis-assembled".
OR
Create more “Gun free zones” that DEPRIVE all legal, law abiding civilian citizens their Second Amendment protection; but make sure to afford everybody entering the “zone” their Forth Amendment Right against unreasonable search & seizure so that a clandestinely armed person with murderous, criminal intent can inflict as much devastation as possible.
OR
Count on a new legislation banning “barrel shrouds”(designed to protect the rifle/shotgun user and others from accidentally burning themselves)for demonstrably lowering violent crime.

An 18 year old with an already spotty driving record can purchase and drive a 400+horsepower Mustang; but a 50 year old law abiding 'civilian' gun collector cannot purchase a pistol with a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds even though it was originally designed to hold 17.

I'm sure there are many lefties that would read that satire and then cream their undies thinking about the potential new found "power".

It seems to me that the right to keep and bear arms is well established in Iraq-- and in most failed states, in fact.  Guns, bullets and bombs are freely available.  Food, water and shelter is lacking.  You should probably consider moving to areas where 10-year-olds carry guns with more than 10 rounds, but can't drive cars and a gun-free zone is a joke.

I have to say Jefferson was right.  It seems the right to keep and bear arms will be the last one a government can take away.  Let's hope our nation is stable, because if the shooting starts it will probably never, ever stop.

(Boy it's fun to play that "love it or leave it" motif back on conservative whiners!)
