Between Al Gore's daddy and Robert "KKK" Byrd (still serving and getting democratic support), it was the left that opposed civil rights.

In the right hands, a ball point pen becomes an "assault weapon". Should we ban those also? This bullshit about banning "assault weapons" is silly. A Ruger 10/22, with ten rounds of .22LR and a couple of spare mags is just as deadly as an Armalite AR-15 with thirty rounds of .223 ball ammo. The only diff is that the Armalite looks scary and dangerous. If some loonytune is hell-bent on killing a large number of people, the ban on assualt weapons is not going to get in his way.

I was planting a seed that apparantly didn't germinate, but check out www.bowlingfortruth.com for some very interesting reading.  I came across a few links about the NRA and was floored to read about who formed the NRA, why it was formed and even how there were a few black chapters in the south during some very troubling times.  I am searching for the link and will post when I find it, but according to the info, the reason that the black chapters were formed was for the purpose of arming themselves with surplus weaponry.  BTW, I do own more than one gun and Mr. Heston's mantra of "Prying my cold dead hands" is engraved in brass overlaying beautifully stained oak above the door of my den.  There's even a nice selection of previously happy frolicking friends of the forest hanging on the walls paying homage to the way of the gun!  And yes, I'm a life member along w/Mr. Heston, who by the way did a Hell of a lot of work with the Civil Rights Movement. Just some FYI

besides, I think most "libs" are more moderate, as are most "cons", of course there are the extremes, black & white if you will, but by and large I think more people are more gray then they tend to admit. Of course that doesn't mean we'll always agree on things, but I think the differences are less than most make them out to be.

Note: { Black & White , to show two extermes SIDES, not a Racial thing, to any idiot that thought that's what I meant }

I agree with you. Don't forget about the NRA's youth programs on gun safety. I also believe that all of the States should adopt "shall issue" rules regarding concealed carry permits. In regards to the gun-control nuckleheads, they should be willing to set an example for society by placing large signs outside of thier homes proclaiming "this is a gun-free house".

Some rules for gunfighting:
* Bring a weapon. Preferably, bring at least two.
* Bring all of your friends who have weapons.
* Bring their friends who have weapons.
* Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is  cheap. Life is expensive.
* Only hits count. Close doesn't count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss.
* If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a big weapon and a friend with a big weapon.
* Someday someone may kill you with your own weapon, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.
* In combat, there are no rules, always cheat, always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
* The visible target should be in FRONT of YOUR weapon.
* The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.
* Be polite. Be professional. But have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
* Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun the caliber of which does not start with a ".4".
