this could just as easily been a picture of my grandmother - in east Texas while I was making money in what seemed like a different world... let along country... however, this was what my grandmother knew... she was happy and only lamented that visits from her kids were not frequent or long enough to suit her.

She also had "outdoor plumbing" and the likes...  when she had company, she would go into the back yard, call dinner over to her, wring its neck, pluck it, and serve it.... doesn't get fresher than that.

while to you, this lady may seem to be impoverished, but she probably lives extremely well, and is probably healthier than either you or me...

so careful of comparisons, they may not be appropriate.

I realize that in the minds of a few narrow people, living like this could not possibly be viewed as positive.  In reality, there are many happy people all over the world that do not live the lives that Americans do.

Many times people are most happy with the things that they are comfortable with. When I worked on an Indian reservation as a teen, I learned that it doesn't take much in the way of material stuff to create a basis for happiness.

Don't forget Obama's brother, living in a slum on a dollar a week.
