In the inauguration coverage, Hannity gave good riddance to Obama, saying that he everyday reminded his audience of the 95M who dropped out of the labor force. He took credit for helping Trump win with such “dose of reality”.
I took quick look at census data which shows 70% of population at working age, thus 224M. So Hannity’s 95M number calculates to 42% unemployment, far worse than the 25% at the Great Depression.
Can y’all enlighten me math ignoramus ?

It's the U.S. Department of Labor's number from this past November's job report.

Hannity is a fucking ass licking lapdog..

Had that happened, along with the long term highs around 7, 8, 9%, it would mean that every other person you met was unemployed. Many people were able to retire and willing to settle for a couple million less in their retirement fund than the dream goal they had set for themselves. Others wound up in the gig economy, or in old-fashioned lingo, self employed. Interestingly, very few up and joined the military. Wonder what that says about us. There are more homeless in many cities than there used to be, but not that many more.

So workers found other ways to make a living than punching a clock. Employers decided that private contractors were a better deal than employees who required benefits and were less easily cut back if business slowed. But the idea that every other person you've known over the past eight years were unemployed past the time their unemployment benefits ran out, in need of a job, but so depressed at their prospects that they just crawled off and sat on their hands doesn't jive with the world I've been living in. Does it reflect your world? Are half your family, friends, former co-workers all wandering the streets panhandling from the other half? I doubt it.

Hannity not only wanted to get Trump elected, long before that he wanted to prove that no government of any kind could work. His vision is one where there are no rules, regulations, laws or any other way that society can establish itself EXCEPT to be told what to do by their "boss" and the Bible. He is a champion for the ideology of corporate rule. We have taken a giant step toward that state of affairs, so we're going to see how it works out.

Have fun.

Look at the attached link, and then compare the U3 unemployment rate with the U6 unemployment rate. What do see? These 2 rates generally track each over time.

The U3 is the headline unemployment number you see on nightly news. It's 4.7%, but understand it's a narrow technical measure, as it leaves out a large number of people. That's where the U6 unemployment number comes in. This number includes the underemployed and the discouraged worker who is no longer looking. The U6 number is currently at 9.2% Again, U3 and U6 tend to track each over time.

Unfortunately a lot of people within the U6 category are unemployable. They either lack education, certain skills, or in the case of one of our prolific posters, a personality, charisma.
