...the immortal words of The Bubble Boy: "Not. Too. Good."

Pablo Pantoja, the RNC Outreach Director for Florida said he's joining the DemocratIC Party because of the Republican Party's culture of intolerance.

Meh, the Republicans don't need Pablo Pantoja anyway; they think Hispanics have lower IQs than whites.

Republicans need to stop being the party of STUPID and as long as they keep alienating the minorities, they will not win a national election.

The whole GOP is not like that, but a few bad apples do end up making them look bad.

The fact that Pablo left the party, because he felt alienated or was for some other reasons is not clear, and probably never will be..If he were true to the principles, he would have stayed...

So how I am reading this is, "I changed my conservative principles because Republicans don't like minorities.."

The two regular male posters here that aren't white are  considered righties here. Either the Democratic party is not the mecca for minorities that the lefties here like to preach, or maybe we need to change our definition of the term "righty" as it seems to be defined here?

FWIW I certainly don't consider myself a Republican, but I detest the Democratic Party even more, although I will concede they are a necessary evil to keep the "thumpers" from taking over every aspect our our life.

I have voted both Democratic and Republican since I was eligible to vote..

Whether to stay loyal to he party principles and vote along the party lines, or to vote for the person and forget about the party they are from is the constant struggle that I face...

and sometimes I simply vote for gridlock, as "getting things done" is rarely a good thing where it comes to our political process. A couple of examples of "getting things done" are The Patriot Act and ObamaCare, personally I would have preferred that those things had not gotten done.

When ever one party is firmly in control bad things seem to happen, and that goes for both parties.

will that make the playing field more level, because they do love our capatalism here in the US.  The hispanics are very hard workers, and aggressive.  I give them that.  But how is it fair to us that own small businesses to try to compete with them when they operate completely under the table.  No workers comp, No sales tax, no fed or state unemployment taxes.

we have a problem with irish travelers (gypsies) here in my area too, that go door to door and rip off the elderly that never ask for contractor license.  So call me racist, I am Irish decent..

I just want the playing field level

Isn't it rather sad that we have to be content with the status quo because either of the two sides are way too dangerous when given power..

That's not a way to lead the biggest economy in the world.

When our country was formed there were ton of independents in the Congress. Even George Washington stayed away from party lines. He probably realized how dangerous affiliation with either of the two parties, Federalists and Democratic-Republicans, was..

Not suggesting that it would be easy to go back to those roots again, but something to chew on....

My family came here because of a potato blight in Ireland just a few generations back.  They were farmers, and only cared about feeding their families and not starving.  They evenutually had hired hands.  The hired hands ate just as good as them, and were free to leave anytime they wanted.  They were paid probably just enough to cover there clothes, but that was all my family had too.  They were poor and not rich southern white plantation owners.

Some that fled Ireland became scam artists instead of taking on a legitimate trade. They became gypsies that are still present here today

Also that Christie and Huntsman have practically been driven out by the "true believers."  And they don't like Jindal much since he referred to the Republicans as "the party of stupid."  That leaves Rubio, and I'm not too sure about him, though I give him credit on the immigration bill.

because of a combination of gridlock (the sequester), higher taxes on the wealthy and a strong economy, the deficit is shrinking faster than anyone thought it would -- down $200 billion since Feb. estimates.  The CBO believes it will be down to less than $400 billion a year by 2015.  That amount, while still too big, is sustainable in terms of the debt compared to the size of the economy.  It also means we can avoid another debt-ceiling trainwreck until November.

The thing I don't like Rubio is his immigration bill.

I don't feel that the people who have broken the law should ever be given complete citizenship. My family came to US when I was little (legally) and its is quite an honor and privilege to call yourself an American. People who have broken the law should never be given that opportunity...

Should they be kicked out of the COUNTRY with their families..NO. That is too harsh and would hurt the economy. But no complete citizenship - not even after 10-12 yrs of going back of the line...

I feel really strongly about this issue...

hat is your definition of a “thumper”?

As you know I fully admit I am a Republican, Righty, Conservative, and a Christian.

However I do not advocate prayer in schools, I do not push my beliefs on others, I’m Ok with abortion. In a previous thread/post I mentioned why I often finish my posts with “For God and Country”.
As for being Republican, I do not always vote straight party.

Second question do you consider me a "thumper" and why or why not?

Not that you care but regardless of your answer I’ll not be offended, hell even the most obnoxious, vile, ignorant, disgusting, and putrid ones on this board cannot offend me.

Now that's far different from limbo. All naturalized citizens like myself have to hold GC for 5 yrs, not commit any crimes, pay all the taxes, before you can apply for citizenship..

Here are some facts and I can find direct articules if you want on obamas gun control stance going back as far as 96. I can name all the sources if you want but many are Ill legislative records. How does he really feel Laffy?

FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban. (Apr 2008) Actually, Obama’s writing was on the 1996 document, which was filed when Obama was running for the Illinois state Senate. A Chicago nonprofit, Independent Voters of Illinois, had this question, and Obama took hard line:

35. Do you support state legislation to:
a. ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns? Yes.
b. ban assault weapons? Yes.
c. mandatory waiting periods and background checks? Yes.

Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok. (Feb 2008)
Q: You said recently, “I have no intention of taking away folks’ guns.” But you support the D.C. handgun ban, and you’ve said that it’s constitutional. How do you reconcile those two positions?
A: Because I think we have two conflicting traditions in this country. I think it’s important for us to recognize that we’ve got a tradition of handgun ownership and gun ownership generally. And a lot of law-abiding citizens use it for hunting, for sportsmanship, and for protecting their families. We also have a violence on the streets that is the result of illegal handgun usage

2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month
Obama sought moderate gun control measures, such as a 2000 bill he cosponsored to limit handgun purchases to one per month (it did not pass). He voted against letting people violate local weapons bans in cases of self-defense

Keep guns out of inner cities
I believe in keeping guns out of our inner cities, and that our leaders must say so in the face of the gun manfuacturer’s lobby.

Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions
Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:
Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.

that are "an anti-2nd as it gets"?

You guys need to quit pulling your "facts" out of your rear and blaming him for stuff he never said.

You guys are the biggest reason why he was re-elected.

 Not the "poor lazy moochers."

You keep making up lie after lie after lie after lie and the independents, the ones that actually decide the election, say, "Jesus, these Righties do nothing but lie their butts off about Obama.  He may not be perfect, but if we busted them for lying about this stuff, what else have they lied about concerning him?"

Mitt ran one of the most dishonest campaigns EVER and it backfired on him.

Just like all the efforts by Righties to keep minorities from voting.....made them want to go out and vote even more.

Stop making up crap about Obama as there is enough to rip him for without you just making stuff up.

I mean, the "most liberal ever"?  LOL!!  He's caved on EVERY issue.
