The problem is the double standard the right wingers want to use in this issue. Remember it was a right wing extremeist named Bozell who pushed the FCC to fine CBS over the Jackson nipple.

NOW Bozell is claiming the SPR issue is not the same because of the context of the F word. He claims it is an issue over intent to shock or that it is gratuitous.

But Bozell has it backwards. The Jackson titty had no intent to shock or be gratutious. It was an accident! But SPR DOES have the intent to shock with the blood squirting out and the F word being used. Intent to be gratuitous is up for grabs though. Though in my opinion Speilebrg makes one dimenisonal films with poor character development. And Speilberg uses gratuitous violence to achieve the emotional tugs he wants. SPR and Shindler are badly made films in this respect.

The right wingers seem to fail when it comes to critical thinking skills.

Let me see if i can explain why a lot of people were angry, you seem unable to grasp it.

I tune into the superbowl (a family type show) with my children present in the room only to have the half time entertainment (and that is a loose term)provide a strip show of sorts. I cant believe that this was an accident, most rational people dont believe it either. Cant see a problem here? There was no notice that this was going to be done or on the menu. Thats the problem.

Saving Private Ryan- war film all the details about language and violence are known well in advance before you tune it in. No problem.

of Far Left arrogance. It is asserted that "The right wingers seem to fail when it comes to critical thinking skills," when the only measure of demonstrating "critical thinking skills" seems to be to draw a Far Left conclusion.

Of course, the key to judging Larry's analysis is the assertion that the "Jackson titty ... was an accident."  Anybody who believes that will believe anything.  Of course, the author then goes on to suggest that there was "no intent to shock or be gratuitous."  Yeah, an exposed breast in a halftime show certainly is not intended to "shock or be gratuitous."  Sure.

And as for Brent Bozell, he is an influential and incisive observor of media bias, and has done much to reveal the consistent biases of the media in their deeds, as opposed to like organizations of the far Left, who attempt to divine bias in ownership.

That having been said, I think it was a mistake for ABC affiliates to react the way that they did.  While I admire Spielberg for his demand that the film be shown uncut (and disagree with Larry's review, as well), there should be a mechanism for an agency like the FCC to give a pass under appropriate circumstances, like here, the realistic depiction of war and battle.
