Remember why we even went to Afghanistan in the first place.  Our objective was to stop Osama Bin Ladin and in the heat of 9/11.  There is NO win in Afghanistan.  They have been fighting each other for centuries and are a completely tribalcentric country, plus or minus the Taliban (or any insurgent group that may follow them in the future).  We keep trying to inject our values and our way of government on other countries and it does not work.  So much corruption in Afghanistan, no central government will ever have the trust of the forces that tear this country apart.

Primary premise is that we will never end terrorism.  It is a very powerful buzz word often misused to increase military funding levels and extend government contracts to line the pockets of those who influence our politicians the most.

The goal should be to find a way to withdraw all of our military forces in the most efficient, expeditious way and continue to focus on our intelligence efforts to detect and obstruct the plans of terrorists.  Again, remembering, that our chances of ever being affected by terrorism is  higher than getting struck by lightning three times.  That's why we call it "terrorism."  The fear of these efforts have significantly more impact than the physical damage they cause.  

In summary;  We can not win in Afghanistan militarily, only a political solution will change anything over there and a political solution is not likely.  We will never eliminate terrorism, any idiot can go into a public place, at any time, with impunity, with just a vehicle and kill people.  We must accept the facts of life, get over the psychological damage caused by the billions of dollars and countless lost lives we have already spent in that theater, and establish a strategy with objectives that live up to reality!
