The fact we can sit here and argue the merits of the government without being thrown in a fucking dungeon is the REAL testament to our country being the most desireable real estate in the world. As dysfunctional as it is, its still better than anywhere else on so many levels.
The left knows it, the right knows it, the centrists know it, even the fucking Islamists know it. Even a drunk stoner defrocked attorney like me knows it. Hell, ESPECIALLY a drunk stoner defrocked attorney like me. I can sit here, shoot my mouth off about the ills of DC, and still be a free man with a hangover in the morning. Idealism be damned, gimme a shot of Jack Daniels, I got cottonmouth. Make it a double.
I do wish Tom DeLay would shut the fuck up though. He gives me a worse headache than cheap stemmy Mexican weed.
Your are a funny dude, Gonz. 420 all the way, bro.
I have never lived anywhere else, so I would not know if we live in the best place. I will say this -- my family is here, my roots are here, I love this country deeply and would rather stay.
However, if things do turn into real fascism here, it will certainly not be the best place to live.
And yes, it's pretty apparent the brownshirts have taken over. Same folks who gave you the Nazis in the thirties. Do the research if you don't believe me.
since freedom has clearly advanced under Bush --- world freedom; national economic freedom, etc. And I don't give a shit of terrorists feel less free.
Since 1932, it is the Democrat Party and/or the far Left (though perhaps I repeat myself) which has wanted to tell us all how to live our lives. Even Christian Conservatives like myself say that you should be free to live your own life, but that there's a qualitatively better way to do so.
The real "brownshirts" are the brownholers who want to tell me that "marriage" is something that it isn't, and never has been.
The real "brownshirts" are the queers who don't just want to be left alone, but insist that others validate and accept their perversions.
The real "brownshirts" are those who tell me that they know better how to spend the money I earn than I do.
The real "brownshirts" are those who say that my children should go without so they --- the brownshirts --- can take my money to buy votes.
The real "brownshirts" are those who advocate an atheistic public square and attempt to suppress Christians.
The real "brownshirts" are those who thirst for power for its own sake, rather than to make America free, and more prosperous, and government smaller.
The real "brownshirts" are those who equate keeping what you earn with "greed," and confuse armed robbery (taxation) to support welfare spending as "charity."
So grow the Hell up, lefties! Your crypto-socialism is far more closely related to brownshirts, Nazis, and fascists than anything Bush or the GOP have ever stood for. If you knew a damn thing about the topic, you'd wouldn't offer such tripe, even in as frivolous a place as this.
You are going to burn in hell for all your fornicating (or adultery).
See ya there. ![]()
As for Christians, you're confusing your caricature with reality.
Besides, aren't these reviews all supposed to be fictional?
Tell God it was reality, babycakes, when it is one of the Ten Commandments (adultery). Fornication isn't quite so high on the list, but still is listed as a mortal sin.
Also, tell God your reviews are fictional.
See you in hell.

Do you really believe all of that garbage?
In fact, I cannot find one thing in what you wrote that is not either inuendo, distorion, flat-out wrong or a complete lie.
Yeah, I'm to the left ........of YOU! But then again, Ronald Reagan and Nixon were to the left of you too.
but then again, you offer not a single example of an "inuendo [sic], distorion, flat-out wrong or a complete lie," probably because you can't.
And as for Reagan and Nixon: Nixon --- absolutely; Reagan --- probably not.
First point: under your "brownshirts": you don't have to marry the way they insist. What you find offensive is that you can't insist that others can't marry;
Second: under your version, you don't have to validate anything, you just have to refrain from harassing. You call that your right?
Third: under your version, you would never have the freedom to get a highway built, or a sewer line repaired, because that would be spending someone else's money;
Four: I'm stumped, what the fuck are you ranting about, James?
Five: In your version: nothing in the public square is "atheistic." No view of God required is not atheistic; atheistic would be doing what I do, insisting that there is no god to be found in this universe. Not having "In God We Trust" on our coins is just staying on topic. Atheistic would be "God is nowhere."
Six: You contradicted this one with your previous points. Power for its own sake? Insisting the constitution is a written promise and that has not been fulfilled. Ensuring rights is not power for its own sake. How about cutting revenues out from programs that legislators made law? Sounds subversive to me.
Seven: It's not the liberals who coined the phrase "Greed is good!" which conservatives have cheered. If you conservatives (radical anarchists actually) think that you could run a government that doesn't tax (take money by armed robbery, as you put it) have a convention and write the plan. Analyze how anything will get done under that system, and convince us.
So far, conservative's plan about taxes has been to tax the wealthy less, give them more money, tax the rest of us to do it, and put the government and the nation on the road to mass bankruptcy. W's "tax reform" looks to be bullshit. He doesn't know how to do what you want him to, James. He can't find a genius that does. Maybe because conservative and genius is a contradiction.
No, conservatives aren't exactly brown shirts. Brownshirts had a clue. Conservatives now are far dumber.

Maybe they are selective as to what teaching of the Bible they choose to follow? I assume your house is constructed of "plexiglass"?
from divorce. You ever wonder why gays always seem to be well off? It's because they have special laws proctecting them from marriage, and the ensuing divorces that wipe out the rest of us poor straight guys financially.
Honestly don't we, as a nation, have anything better to do than go looking into other peoples bedrooms. If two guys want to fukc each other, more pussy for the rest of us. If two women want to have sex, then I want to watch.
...I hope they invite me!
Not me....ugh! Why has my stiry died? Was that my 15 minutes?
I do have my escape plan in case people start disappearing, or other dismal things start to happen. It already looks as though there are places freer and more prosperous than the US is now. Freedom is playing catch up here, and prosperity is teetering.
Hey Zin, with all do respect, put your money where your mouth is......
Where is better than here?
Tell us about your escape plan, come on, do tell.
Where else is freer and more prosperous than the US? (and don't say UAE or somewhere where the population dosn't need to work due to natural resources wealth)
I doubt you can come up w/ a place that is better, AND has fewer warts than we do.
DO TELL!!!!
None of these un-winnable wars, no drive to throw more and more people into prison, three strikes and your out laws, debates about teaching evolution, bumper stickers declaring that Jesus is pro-life, or needing to have the same 6th grade political arguments over and over again. Plus universal healthcare.
For economics, the Luny has been rising against the dollar, and it looks like it will continue to do so.
With global warming, the climate has great prospects of actually improving with land value rising after the ice melts.
Furthermore, hobbying is constitutionally protected.
I sense a power change afoot in North America as the US drowns in a sea of red, or rather, two oceans of red. I'd rather stay to turn back the tide... but if that fails, or if life gets too dangerous here: Toronto here I come!
Good. Go, I hope you enjoy yourself. Although I woulddn't think you would be hobbying too much up there with how high the tax rate is, how damm cold it is and well, I could go on.
Let us know when you leave ok?
I'll make you a bet you won't put your money where your mouth is and leave. Go ahead, I dare you.
Robert Conrad would be proud of you, Toss.
WTF does the temperature have to do with hobbying? When it is cold out is when I want to fuck MORE!
As far as the tax rate influencing Zin's ability to hobby, only he would know that. However, I have seen threads on the National board talking about the fact that providers in Canada are cheaper than in the states.
Somehow you are reminding me of Tom Cruise in "Born On The Fourth Of July" when he keeps parroting "Love it or leave it". Funny, when that movie came out, I never thought I would hear that phrase myself, but with the ultra-nationalism and over-zealous patriotism that the WTC bombings sparked, Vietnam-era nationalism was mild compared to the parade of American flags I see on cars nowadays...a good percentage of which are foreign, BTW.
The fight hasn't started. I'm not throwing in the towel from the locker room. Canada is a last resort.
I'll go there only if the alternative is imprisonment or death, and then only in defeat. There's far too much at stake here and now.If the US continues on its current course, humankind might not have another chance to get it right. If that's the case, Canada isn't going to do me any good anyway.
I take it as a very high compliment that a conservative like you wants me out so bad. Keep your money. You're going to need all of it with a totally Republican administration for at least three more years.
We'll see if Canada doesn't look a lot more tempting for a lot more people in the US as events progress.
BTW, I'm not hobbying very much down here, due to the fact that wages in real dollars have been flat in the US for more than 20 years.
If you actually believe it's going to happen, then surely, you're one of the first to go.
There have been missteps, but we have usually found our way back to our democratic principles. But we always have to be willing to fight for our rights.
...of a skyscraper. When asked by someone at a 7th floor window how it's going, the falling man replies "So far, so good!"
I just saw the movie Downfall, about Hitler's last days. Now, that was fascism. Great movie, btw.
The thing that we do have is a swing way to the right in a time when we really need to get a clearer focus than either party seems able to muster. History has lots of these swings in US - but excess always has corrected itself. Now, if the red state value system really becomes dominant ... but it was only 14 years ago Clinton was elected to the first of 2 terms, and Gore & Kerry barely lost.
The only thing that gives me concern is if the press totally loses its way. But there's a lot of new forces like MoveOn.org to fill the vaccum.
So, it's not that US becomes fascist that disturbs me. It's whether its political processes can respond to such rapidly accelerating change & deep challenges in the 21st century. Maybe - maybe not. It's the latter that really concerns me.
"and Gore & Kerry barely lost." Of course you mean Gore barely won and once Ohio is properly explained the same may be true for Kerry.
Get over it already. Bush is President, deal with it.
I agree that going beyond poetic license to hyperventilation is bad for politics. But I don't think "fascist" is limited to those as bad as the Nazis, either.
How close are we to an authoritarian state? How much latitude do we allow people who, say, don't have a driver's license?
Congress voted to suspend habeas corpus a couple days ago. Given that the legislative and executive depts together can probably define what a war is, I suspect that anybody they call a terrorist is gonna disappear.
