What gives? Do these people really think intelligence is over rated? Or are they afraid that people brighter than them will manipulate them? Or are they just looking for a nutty fundie to bring about the end times by launching our nukes?
If you can't see the light with your eyes closed, doesn't prove it isn't there. In 2006 NO Republicans won House seats previously held by Democrats,yet people like you and Karl Rowe, choose to misinterpret the positive influence of Sarah, in election 2010. Was it Mr Barnum who said there is a sucker born every minute? Opem your eyes to the truth Mr willy and quit being a sucker.

Most occupations require a certain minimum threshold intelligence to be attainable; but once that threshold is reached, there is no difference in terms of success or outcomes between those who barely crossed that threshold and those who cleared it by a country mile.
To be an electrical engineer requires an IQ of about 130. There is no measurable difference in the quality or quantity of work between an EE with an IQ of 135 and one with an IQ of 145.
The average corporate CEO has an IQ of 115. That's all. That is certainly above average, but they aren't geniuses.
Human personality is made up of numerous traits, some of which are hard to measure. Intelligence is one of them -- and we have difficulty even defining it much less measuring it -- but there are others as well.
While there is a very general correlation between income and IQ over a certain threshold (115); beyond an IQ of 115, there is no correspondence at all that would let you say "Well, Joe has an IQ of 150 so of course he makes more money than Bob with an IQ of 125." Bob, in all likelihood, makes more than Joe.
Anyone with an IQ of 100 easily knows that rape is wrong.
It is only high-IQ academic types that you hear saying crap like "All sex is rape" or "Since we don't exist, rape is irrelevant because it is a fantasy."
There can indeed be times when a high IQ could be an impediment. This is why the New London police department won the ability, in a Supreme Court decision, to explicitly EXCLUDE candidates for their police force whose IQ was too high for their taste.
I'm not speaking here of Palin's suitability or not -- but merely addressing your general question.

Bingo on the last line. As a former fundie, I know first-hand that the vast majority of them believe we are in the absolute last generation before the return of Christ. They think Jews are going to hell, but simply ADORE the state of Israel because they think its recreation was a vital sign of prophetic events(now I realize it was a self-fulfilling prophecy).
Jesus said that the generation which saw the budding of the fig tree would see His return. Fundies interpret the passage to mean the recreation of Israel in 1948, and a generation is typically 40 years in the Bible. Someone wrote a mega best selling book years ago titled "88 reasons Christ will return by 1988". Oops. And then Y2K was supposed to bring about the end. Many books in the Christian bookstore said this. Oops again.
Regardless, fundies see Armageddon as imminent, and they are relishing the thought of the end of the world. Fundies tend not to worry about environmental decay because it "won't matter".
