I was once asked; “Why do you need an AR-15 with 30 round magazine clip?”
.
After thinking about this question and passing over all of the typical “Talking Points” that seem to be thrown around that nobody, on either side of the issue really seem to listen too, I truly asked myself ;Why do I really feel  so strongly about this subject? And this is what I came up with;
.
I have seen firsthand what happens within a community that is well armed during a crisis, along with communities that were not as well armed.
.
1992 LA Riots;
.
I witnessed blocks upon blocks of a city that was populated with under-protected civilians. I witnessed communities be utterly destroyed because Law Enforcement  was over whelmed by crime that was running rampant in an area where  Law Enforcement could not logistically respond to calls in a timely manner. I witnessed “mob mentality” take over entire areas of the city. This left the law abiding/government trusting public that lived and worked in this area to be offered up for the taking from anyone or any group of people who had the notion to do so.
.
I saw stores looted to the point where anything and everything was taken from the buildings, even if the stolen items had no value to the perpetrators. I witnessed homes burned to the ground, cars torched; seemingly just to watch them burn. I can still hear screams of unseen people in the night coming from every direction, random burst from firearms scattered throughout the community. I only hoped that some of this gun fire was in defense of honest people caught in the middle.
.
As I patrolled the community, doing what I could to help bring some kind of order, comfort and security to the citizens that were trapped in this chaos that was just a short time earlier, a quiet, normal community. I remember thinking “How did this get to this point in such a short amount of time?” I felt like what I was tasked to do was futile at best. The reality started to set in that what we were attempting to do as “Peacekeepers” to help this large devastated/victimized population was a desperate and futile attempt to restore Law and Order.
.
Days went by and the destruction seemed to keep growing like a cancer on the body of the city. The devastation I saw, the victimizing of the defenseless public was a lot to take in. One night stands out in my mind; I was riding with an ambulance crew as security, they were responding to a medical call. I was seated in the back of the ambulance as the two paramedics were seated in the front. As we raced to the call I could hear something metallic “tapping” on the outside of the ambulance. I realized that we were taking gun fire! I was thinking, “How could this be happing here in America?” How could people do such horrible things to each other? And for no other reason than they could get away with it. Why would someone deliberately open fire on first responders? This was the stuff you read about in crappy horror novels or saw only on the nightly news, things that occurred only in far off, 3rd world countries.
.
Then it happened; I became enlightened.
.
After a week or so I was re-attached to a different part of the city, Korea town; as we entered the area, the atmosphere was different, not good, just different. I also noticed that there was little to almost no damage to any of the structures in this community; yes there was damage but nothing like there neighboring communities were suffering from. I remember thinking, “Did the destruction just not make it here yet?” Then I saw it, I did not realize at first what I was seeing. I was young and I saw this world with naive eyes as I grew up in a small community that in no way resembled what I was experiencing.
.
At first I was terrified, there were literally two to three armed citizens posted and barricaded on each corner the rooftops of the homes and businesses located on both sides of the streets. Almost all of these men were armed with AR-15 and AK-47 styled long guns.
.
The people located in the storefronts and on the sidewalks were also armed with countless hand guns and other assorted firearms. I was thinking, Shit! We are about to get the hell knocked out of us as we were only in a black & white cruiser that was hastily equipped with ballistic vests, draped over the doors for some added protection. The civilians had the high ground and the firepower! We were at their mercy.
.
I looked up and made eye contact with one of the armed citizens and he looked back at me, nodded his head, and gave me the “thumbs-Up” signal. At that moment I realized that these were “The Good Guys”.
.
At that point in time, I became enlightened to the true meaning of the Second Amendment.
.
I saw a community that was able to mobilize itself in an incredibly short amount of time! This enabled them to effectively defend their families, homes, businesses and everything they hold dear from the domestic aggressors. They did what the government could not do; because the local citizens know what they need to-do that will provide protection for their communities, citizens along with their lively hood.
.
A central government that is located hundreds, if not thousands of miles away could not possibly defend these citizens as well or muster as quickly and effectively as they did on their own.
.
It is my belief that this is one of the many reasons the founding fathers created our Second Amendment. Sure there was no “Tyrannical Government” or “Foreign Power” overthrowing and oppressing our freedoms or our pursuit of happiness, BUT domestic civil unrest can show its ugly head at any time and can just as effectively oppress a population.
.
This happened in 1992 in Los Angeles, one of the largest cities in one of the most advanced countries in the world. This was not the first time civil unrest has occurred in our country and with the way society is drifting today along with the lack of understanding and respect of our fellow countrymen that we are destined to repeat the mistakes of our past.
.
Sadly, I believe that violent eruptions of civil unrest not unlike the 92 Riots, are inevitable in our countries near future as I witness once again the unrest that is being generated by groups of people like “Antifa” and “Black Lives Matter” that appear to have no problem destroying public property and assaulting people in the name of any cause that does not fit their agenda.
.
I love this country and I have the greatest respect for Law Enforcement, Military and our Limited Government but I also believe that citizens are our first line of defense against all threats, both foreign and domestic.
.
And this is only one example why I believe I need an AR-15 with 30 a round magazine.

it would be easier to wipe out the transgressors, Rambo style.
