Elect Kerry: We need to get this ace in the right place.

I was in the military. Commendations weren't too easy to get.

From the Republican Guard (Vietnam Veterans for "Truth") we're supposed to believe that Kerry was unpopular, that everyone he encountered in the military thought him "unfit" (a very low insult in the military).  Yet, this guy was able to use the power of persuasion to get medal after undeserved medal?  Not just any honor, but some of the most high honors?

I know what would have happened to me if I had gone to my CO to "persuade" him to give me a medal.

I was in the military in peacetime.  If you were unfit in a unit then, and if they didn't transfer or discharge you, your life would probably be in danger. I can't imagine staying alive in Vietnam, much less commanding, when everybody thinks you're unfit.  You definitely couldn't get medals.

If Kerry has these kinds of persuasive abilities, elect him!!  He'll have the Arabs trading us oil for sand within a month!  He'll have Al-quaida handing Osama over to us as a traitor to their cause!  Don't slam the door on a goose laying golden eggs!

Elect Kerry: We need to get this ace in the right place!

On Mr.Thurlow and other swift boat critics.  The fact is that Mr.Thurlow was the superior officer of the flotilla that included Mr.Kerry's boat on the day that events took place that would result in Mr.Kerry getting a bronze star.  Military protocol requires that the superior officer either writes after action reports when there is a reported firefight, OR certifies the authenticity of such reports if they are written be someone else.
