What do you think?--Will Rehnquist step down or stay??

Of all the reasons I voted for Kerry, the #1 reason far & away was the appointment of Supreme Court justices, as likely 2-3 current justices will step down before end of 2008......

If Rehqunist is replaced w/another conservative leaning justice, that's basically an even trade off.....However, the big question is when and if moderate justices John Paul Stevens or Sandra Day O'Connor step down, this is where balance of power could shift & well, it's pretty damn scary to contemplate what a majority conservative court would do to abortion, first amendment issues, etc.......

if billy graham turns down gwb's offer of the office of the c.j., then it'll be scalia..... and no one else! you heard it on ter....

He voted for reinstatement of capital punishment, opposed affirmative action in the 1978 Bakke case, he sided w/the majority in the recent medical marijuana case....He does vote liberal on some issues to, but overall I'd certainly say a moderate.......

on the court would be defined BY MOST people as a moderate voting record....

Then again, you probably thought Robert Bork was a centrist....
