Is it just me, or does it seem like the people who knock Christians, Jews and other select religious people on this board and in other media, are often the apologists of Islam and even seem to defend Muslims? Its odd to hear the worshippers of scientific fact make that one exception, over and over. Say what you want about the Old Testament or the New Testament, but why stop at the Quran? Me thinks they are scared shitless of them, much more than those that speak their mind honestly.
Today I watched an PBS fund drive. It takes on a whole new meaning after the NPR fiasco this week. I thought to myself, do I want to give money so these well-scrubbed white people can continue with their quality programing of censorship and social conditioning?
No, I don't. And it kinda felt good and guiltless this time.
if some idiot makes an O Reilly- esque comment like "Muslims caused 9/11." That i not being an apologist for Islam but simply correcting and hopefully educating someone who is engaged in pointless scare -mongering.
I don't see any connection between people who knock religions on this Board and being an apologist for Islam.
So he is a racist?, I am just asking.amazing how many people think like that except for liberals on board , who protect acorn after all ilegal activities they did and unethicAl policies they had.
how he felt - he did not suggest that there was any objective validity to his fears and criticized OReilly for his statement which was simply wrong, not a personal opinion.
I get nervous period when I get on an airplane - I'm always a little concerned that this is the one flight that will crash. Is there any validity to my fear? No, not statistically but I'm still nervous.
Am I prejudiced against airplanes? No, just not very rationale in this situation.

About once a decade, a lone nut job will shoot up an abortion doctor. The pro-life community quickly denounces the act in strong language. Still, the media loves to say the loner is representative of the 100 million strong right to life community. They want to paint all of them as violent extremists.
But then when Islamic terrorists strike again and again, we are quickly admonished by those same folks that Islam is a religion of peace, and the terrorists are very rare lunatic fringe.
Bush, Cheney and their partners committed mass murders and torture muslim men, women and children, yes Children in Iraq for no reason. All of them are Christians and go to church. How can they even go to a place of worship with blood on their hands?
At home, they fight to ban abortion of a fetus saying it is murder! To these butchers, American blood and life is precious but not muslim.
I wonder if there is a GOD in USA where he will take these butchers when they are gone? I wish they are born as muslims in Iraq so they can be butchered by a future war monger sitting in the White House.
Hell, I don't know! You're wanting me to think way too hard, if you think I'm going to peruse through my memory banks, and try to remember all the posts by all the posters that might qualify as to what you're talking about. How about being more specific!
I'm just glad you're not talking about me! I'm all for people being scientific, spiritual and religious as long as it's done in peace, and with peace vs. violence.
Fair Use"Is it just me, or does it seem like the people who knock Christians, Jews and other select religious people on this board and in other media, are often the apologists of Islam and even seem to defend Muslims?
I don't see much of that on this board, other than a couple goof balls, however in the real world I agree, Evangelical Atheists are waging holy verbal war against Christians, while going out of their way to defend Muslims. Anyone that doesn't notice is turning a "blind" ear to reality. NPR is on top of the charts in that regard.
Evangelical Atheists are the real danger.
Alias used for the point. You know who I am.
I find all religions equally ridiculous, but only find two to be extrememly dangerous and having the ability to end the world as we know it.
Obviously those two religions are Islam and Christianity. I am forced to choose between the lesser of the two evils that I am presented with. Christianity has evolved over the last few hundred years to the point that, I can peacefully exist amongst Christians without fear of them killing or imprisoning me for "nonbelief". The same cannot be said about the Islamic faith. I wish the same could be said about the Muslims, living under Sharia law would have to be the scariest thought I could imagine as a nonbeliever. Islamic Cleric and Mullah routinely sentence people to death for "moral transgressions"
No as much as I despise Christianity, there is no doubt that I loathe and fear the Muslims a thousand times more.
and yes I am scared "shitless" about Islamic terrorists, but not so scared as to remain quiet.
BTW why the reference to "well scrubbed white people"? Are you a person of color with something against white people, or are you a White person yourself who suffers from white guilt?
I'd like to take some of these lily white guilt ridden liberals, blindfold them, put them on a bus, and drop them off on any street named Martin Luther King, Adam Clayton Powell, or Malcolm X at 2:00AM.
How long do you think they would last before pissing in their chinos?
You forgot to say their "Khaki colored Chinos" lol
but your point is valid. The more PC a person is the less likely that person is to have atually any first hand knowledge of "the hood" I still relish the thought of WW on MLK blvd at 2:00 AM
...are you saying that atheists defend Islam? What, have you found Christopher Hitchens soft on them? How about Richard Dawkins or Sam Harris?
Just about any atheist out there views ALL religious organizations as equally dangerous and demogogic. They all want to control people through issuance of rules and rites that are written down somewhere by some guy that claims to have heard it straight from, "The One True God (tm)." Then, those words are passed on to succeeding generations with revisions and additions that suit the leader of that particular cult at that particular time.
Religion is organized oppression for people that need to be told what to do.
On the other hand, personal, private spirituality - even if it adheres to some widely accepted doctrine - is something I can and do respect. I never find those types of people out trying to bend society's rules so that everyone has to live the way they feel they should. I never hear about the private spriritualists going out and murdering dozens, or hundreds, or thousands, or millions of people because their god told them to.
Fanatic muslims are no different than any other crazy sect. They just happen to me making the most noise these decades. Give it a few hundred years and some other nut-job group will be killing, raping, and maiming in the name of their All-Compasionate, All-Powerful, All-Judgemental god.
