Annual unemployment insurance exhaustion rate at highest level in 60 years
========================================================
Snapshot for September 22, 2004

Last year, 43.4% of people who began receiving state unemployment benefits ended up exhausting all the benefits to which they were entitled without finding a job.*    This exhaustion rate is the highest rate since 1941, and it exceeds the 38.5% rate for 1982 when the unemployment rate was over 10%.

A major reason for the high UI exhaustion rate in 2003 is the lack of job creation that characterized the economic recovery in 2003.  In 2003, the share of the unemployed who had been seeking work for six months or more was 22.1%, the second highest share on record. These data clearly indicate that the UI program failed to provide an adequate safety net for millions of jobless workers in 2003.

* The "exhaustion rate" is the average monthly exhaustions divided by the average monthly first payments of UI benefits.

This Snapshot was written by EPI Research Director Lee Price and research assistant Sujan Vasavada.

Everyone KNOWS that they did not have typewriters in 1940 that were capable of that type of graph. It must be a forgery.

Wait a minute, it has been turned upside down.

No? it must be some other DNC conspiracy. Windsailing or shooting a shotgun with 1 eye closed or some such blather.

YEEEHAAAAAA

Those are for positions...the thread talked about unemployed people.

maybe not for you, maybe not for SULLY, maybe not for AllHailTheBaloneySandwich.  But for some, if not many, LIFE IS GOOD.

Some people are actually not angry and bitter as you are, they are enjoying their lives out there.

Every day I awake and face no pain is good.
Every day my family makes it home safely is good.
Every day I am alive to use my savings to buy food due to loss of work is good?
Every month I have to help my parents buy prescription drugs due to outrageous health insurance premiums and outrageous drug costs is good?
Everyday I hear about more people dying in a needless war in Iraq is good?
Every person that joins forces with the terrorist groups because W gave them a whole country to practice their terrorism tactics is good?

Yes, life is good, I woke up today and had no pain.

so spare me the "advice" about enjoying life.

My personal life is better than four years ago...due to ME, and IN SPITE of Deserter George and the Neocon Revolution.

You wanna see angry and bitter?  Listen to conservative radio discuss people whose beliefs are different...the "tree huggers", the "feminazis", President Clinton, "the peaceniks", etc., etc.

Life is good regardless of what college grads starting salary is (and, given the necessity of student loans, those salaries had BETTER be going up...I am helping put my sister through her Masters program right now)...because it is LIFE...for all of us.  It is about what is inside of you.  There are rich and miserable people, and poor and content people.

However, people who think 1000 troops are "acceptible losses" for a bogus "war" do tend to make me sad, yes.

so 3 years AFTER Bush takes office we finally see some areas of some SMALL wage increase, some areas a whole .1 % woooo hoooooo.

-------------------
"They haven't seen an increase since 2001 and this is the first year, in all four reports, that they showed an increase," Koncz says. "With the economy coming back, they are JUST STARTING to REGAIN the ground LOST in those two years."
-------------------

and reading further you see that

-------------------
"While that's good news for most graduates, some professions just haven't kept pace. On the down side, entry-level pay for industrial and manufacturing engineers eased (WENT DOWN) 2.2 percent..."
-------------------

most nations consider that kinda work the backbone of the economy, what your link really shows is that hard work and jobs that actually produce something have worsened, and that we've become a nation rewarding the paper/pencil pushers. Again, woooo hooooo :-(

And lastly, as mentioned by 'MrSelfDestruct', what does YOUR "data/post" have to do with disproving or debating my "data/post"  ??????????

One's about UN-EMPLOYMENT and why the "REAL" un-employment numbers may NOT be as good as Bush's SPIN doctors try to make it. Many simply CAN NO LONGER GET IT ! ! ! so they CAN'T show up on the report's as an unemployed worker any longer. Yours is about Highly educated grad's getting a small bounce in starting wages, that is just beginning to adjust for 3 years of prior losses.

PS.  -  I wonder why the increase to the English majors, couldn't be trying to figure out what the hell BUSH says half the time could it ? :-)
