McCain and his 'Torturer' were actually close friends.

torture our brave marines, soldiers, airman and sailors suffered were beyond anything that can be imagined, many did not survive. Now Colonel Stirm did say that Sen. McCain would have died from the his wounds but that the North Vietnamese found out he was the son of an Admiral so he received "some" medical attention.

The North Vietnamese figured they could use him for propaganda purposes so they kept McCain alive, barely. When Sen. McCain refused to betray his comrades and America they tortured him some more and again, and again.

Below, Colonel Stirm is reunited with his family. God Bless all Vietnam Veterans who served this country. Even with a $700 Billion bailout this country could never repay the debt these servicemen/women are owed.

Thank you

Thanks breaker, I appreciate the comments in your last paragraph. Wish there were more that felt like that.

when my Dad died. My economic teacher and football coach were Vietnam Vets. In the Army it was the Vietnam Vet who taught me how to fight, keep my ass alive and act like a man. In the working world it was two Vietnam Vets, a World WarII, a Korean Vet that mentored me. The Vietnam Vet has always been there for me. I will stop there, because then I will start getting emotional.

If your a Vietnam Vet thank you. My graditude is more than I can describe.

There no such claim in the link.  Nothing even close.  They quote McCain's memoirs and talk to the people who were there.

That's his captor.  What else is he gonna say.  Do you really think that the media was siding with his captor?  If so, you might wanna put the pipe down for a little bit.

Like  you need to never  buy GE stock  :)

Like...you sound like a bimbo, lol.

I hate the word "like" used in that manner, I just can't help but picture Alicia Silverstone in Clueless.

If you honestly believe that NBC was trying to knock John McCain, then you really need to get some meds for paranoia.  No prison guard is going to admit to torture.  Anyone with a grain of common sense, Obama or McCain supporter, saw right thru that weak story...as I'm sure NBC producers did.  It is part of McCain's story...and a way to get some ratings.  No more, no less.

Yep, like it needs to be  directed at you  if you are that clueless and so naive to not understand  NBC was doing that exactly   in their pathtic  attempt to smear MAC in a very subtle veiled manner.

Republican speak..."you just don't understand" and naive...how very MAC of you.

Why not just go all the way and say if I watch NBC that terrorists will attack?

Maybe NBC has WMD?

I wasn't voted Ms. Congeniality of the PnR board...it is annoying and over the top isn't it?

You guys kill me- you repeat and repeat until you believe something.  I think I'm going to adopt that strategy; it seems to be working for McCain.

OH WAIT!  Not it isn't (have you seen the latest polls?)....never mind.

M

Timbow2029 reads

If you chose to be naive that is your prerogative .
You keep believing :)

RightwingUnderground2105 reads

You concede that NBC KNEW he was a liar. And you readily predict that EVERYONE will know he is lying.

So tell me then. . .

Exactly why did NBC CHOOSE to put him on the air? Tell me what the news worthiness of this is. Why did NBC do it?

Please do tell.

RightwingUnderground2251 reads

they also noted that this guy's claims could NOT be corroborated. That bit was left out by NBC for ratings effect as well?

If it's all just for ratings then we should all be able to find plenty of NBC newscasts that spread fallacious and exciting lies of the Republicans helping McCain. Can you point out just one?

NBC is further in the tank for BHO than any other network.

Trust me...they don't give a FUCK what happens in politics.  As long as they make money- which they do with ratings to sell commercial spots.  I worked in the traffic department, no that's not talking about the overturned semi- its scheduling commercials.  The only television events that bring more revenue than politics are the Olympics and the Superbowl.

Sensationalism attracts viewers- can you think of anything more tantalizing than interviewing a man that implies McCain is lying about his treatment as a POW?

You think politicians are blood suckers; they are a shadow compared to TV executives.

Simple marketing.  Don't take it so personal.

Melanie

RightwingUnderground2447 reads

If it's all about sensationalism only, where are the fallacious clips running down BHO? Point me to just one. They exist. They’d be sensational. Where are they?

Journalism is a dead stinking corpse at NBC. If it's purely for financial reasons then they have ascertained that tanking for BHO is their best fiscal plan.

BTW, why do you ascribe my analysis as personal?

I am not posting behind an alias, lol.  Shove off.

It is what it is, I don't have a lot of insight to offer about much but I do about this particular topic.  My time with NBC was years ago but I know MANY in major networks still- TV people tend to stick together, even after we leave the compound and spit the koolaid out.

It is hard to touch Obama for something like this because he is black.  DUH!!  Be a realist.  I am not ignorant to the fact that his race makes him somewhat of an untouchable in the media circus.  Do I like it?  No- not for McCain or Obama but I see it for what it is.

Get your own insults, don't borrow Ahmadinejad's.

Your tone implies you take it personal.

M

RightwingUnderground2078 reads

Regulars here know me. I'm not an alias hog. Let me give you a hint. Count the number of occurances of RightwingUnderground in the last 30 days and then look at the top ten posters.

Even when people I personally know start their negative assertion with 'Trust me' I become distrustful.

Shove off? I missed that technique at debate school.

Are you saying (basedon your experience and friends) that negative reporting on BHO is 'restrained' due to racial issues? Most interesting.

You lost me on the comparison to Ahmadinejad.

The fact that you use the alias is enough for me.  I have never changed my position about them- I do not like them.  However, I realize they do serve a purpose- I just don’t’ believe that purpose is to post on the PnR board.

You are entitled to feel distrust about the wording "trust me".  It doesn't really matter.  I am an Obama supporter but I recognize that certain networks lean certain ways and mostly because of money.  Publications like "People" and networks like "MTV" have followers because dirt sells- politics is no different.  Everything you read/see must be taken with a grain of salt and a heap of common sense- including NBC.

Shove off...you are welcome to borrow it any time :)

I am saying based on common sense- certain levels of filth will be out of reach by the main stream media because of social faux pas.  It isn't interesting- it is sad. Somehow John McCain's status as a POW got brought into the election process.  It is also sad that reasonable, intelligent people don't realize that the media panders- just like politicians- to get approval/income in the way of viewers.

Ahmadinejad uses the phrase stinking, rotting corpse to describe Israel...I'm sure you used that phraseology to be coy.  How cute.

M

Ratings are tricky business.  CBS and ABC have had the corner on the ratings market since NBC lost "Friends", as far as I'm aware.

The fact that they don't get as many viewers for their fluff programing further supports my theory that this interview was a ratings stunt.

M

Or have you not watched the totally Biased coverage of theirs and its sister MSNBC.

The NBC reporter talks about MAC giving graphic accounts of being tortured then has the audacity to show the gook prison director that says  the statement . ''He remembers it   ''differently ''and they would talk as friends.
OH so after he was tortured MAC would give the gook English lessons !

And people wonder why republicans have the stink of racism all over them.

GaGambler1596 reads

I don't have a problem with the word "Gook", at least not in the context the John McCain used it.

John McCain's use of the word or the subsequent use of it by several posters here is not the onset of a new prejudice against asians.

If I had been tortured and held in captivity for years you can bet I'd be calling him a lot worse than a gook. It's a word, it has no power unless you allow it to. I will give the same advice I gave Conrad "get over it", it's not that big a deal.

You know, for the MAN keeping you down all these years.

GaGambler1989 reads

I'm just not having a lot of luck in "finding" any. lol

Fuck all you "round eye" mother fuckers.lol I guess nobody is giving me anything.

...you just realize how ridiculous it was - like your contradictory perceptions of what "most black people" are doing.

Being docile and submissive about it all works better for you - I get it.  You've made the point over and over again:  Asians took it a bit of the tip in the ass, why can't black people take the whole dick without complaining, blah blah blah....and yes, in the process have gained the praise of some of your idiot inbred counterparts on this board, as I'm sure theSource, Blackbelt, and timbow are all shining examples of intellectual superiority.

All that compelling support aside, though, it isn't going to change that fact that you've failed to refute anything I've said with a substantive argument (your bullshit personal feelings about it don't count).  I guess a little time in an internment camp is more damaging than I thought...

GaGambler2133 reads

You are to busy being a victim to get anything, and I am done trying. The only thing you did get right was lumping me in with some decent company. You on the other hand can hang out with your morally superior friends like Sundance and MRB.

I am truly sorry that you are too thick (that's stupid spelled sideways) to realize that whining about how you have it harder than anyone else and dismissing the problems of others is not going to endear you to others with problems of their own, especially when you blame those same people for everything that wrong with your poor miserable life.

Good Luck, and you can go back to wallowing in the pity party of your own making.

See this is what I'm referring to.  More personal bias and no substance.

Let me see if I can understand this a bit better....I've said previously that I've accomplished quite a bit for myself and other black people by exposing and pointing out racism and it's detrimental effects on us; Your counter argument is fundamentally "no that doesn't help.  You should just keep quiet."  Sooooo....I should now ignore the examples that I've PERSONALLY witnessed when it comes to the challenges that still exist -  because some Asian guy on TER doesn't want to read about it??  LOL!  This is what I mean when I say you're a fucking joke.I guess "endearing" myself to others isn't really my goal in all of this like it is yours.

It seems to be a little more comfortable for you to not take offense to racial inequality...hell, some guys are a bit more comfortable fucking other guys.  They're not going to convince me to change just because they think it feels better, though;  And neither are you...

-- Modified on 10/3/2008 8:54:54 AM

Blame the docile Asians, the white man who has kept you down, and the other inbred people here who don't agree with you.  Kind of funny that you throw out insults and sexual innuendos about taking it up the ass.

GaGambler1709 reads

I'm not docile, I just don't take offense at every perceived slight and I don't blame others for keeping be down. When it comes right down to it asians etal have a hell of a lot more balls than Conroy and his little tribe of victims.

It takes a hell of a lot more balls to do something about your problems than whine about them, and that's all Conroy does, what a fucking whiner.

You may have a point about his sexuality, he does spend an inordinate amount of time talking about taking it up the ass. You may be onto to something BBxxx.

LMFAO.... I knew that might get your attention LOL.  Docile Asian.  His words, not mine as I know better.  Studied under some very un-docile martial arts masters.

has no bearing on the racism inherent in using the work as the poster used it.

Racism isn't about you, GaG. It's not about how you were treated or not treated. It's about groups of people and their attitudes.

You can say it a hundred different ways in a thousand different languages and he still won't grasp the concept.

Only in the case of racism do outsiders feel empowered to make uninformed observations about the severity of the condtions that group faces and how they should deal with those conditions.  That in itself is a form of racism, but the offenders refuse to recognize themselves as such.  It's a challenge, but a common occurrence.

If five guys write reviews and give the provider a "she just laid there" rating, we're not going to argue with those accounts if the extent of our familiarity with that provider is having seen her photos (many won't understand this analogy).

Wormie: Having been there, I can say with 100% accuracy that political affiliations have absolutely zero to do with the calling someone a gook. When the fucking little zipper head bastards have just killed 2 of your friends, and are now trying to kill you, believe me, they get called a lot worse than gook.

I understand that. i would hope that the need to dehumanize the other people in the world would fade a bit after the needs of combat are gone.

Maybe I'm just an incurable optimist, but I think people can be better than that when they aren't so driven by fear.

Unfortunately the right seems to have made fine art of provoking fear to keep us from actually thinking anything through.

is that to interview a proposed torturer of a prisoner without exploring ALL the evidence and records proves nothing.... What did the reporter expect the guy to say "oh, I tortured him - every day..."?

Gimme a break.  All this proves is that we have idiots in newrooms who do not know that they need independant verification, examination of written records, and collaborative testimony to "prove" a story.  That is all we have proved... This reporter should be fired for filing such a "half-story"

This shit makes me sick to my stomach...

I was there when our hurt, damaged and politically defeated men and women came back from Nam... only to be spit upon by the likes of Clinton Kerry and company - to say nothing of the Jane Fonda's of the world...

Disagree with the war, yea - but know what, the military did not start it.... the politicians did... all the way back to Ike, Kennedy and Johnson.  Blame the 2 Dems and rep for the mess...  Thankfully - we've only one to go after for the mess in Iraq - BUSH 43.  Even his dad knew NOT to get us into another civil (or religious) war.... ya just don't win, cause everyone hates ya when all is said and done.

What did we learn?  Apparently NOTHING... and this interview failed to teach me ANYTHING that I did not already know ... and that is that John McCain is a decent man.

RightwingUnderground2250 reads

I know that NBC wasn't. The dispicable thing is that NBC wanted people to believe McCain's captor when he effectively said torture didn't take place. Yes, Mr. RB THAT'S what he said.

The BBC ran this exact same story 6 months ago, but THEY at least had the guts to say that this prison guy's version of the story could NOT be substantiated.

Journalism is dead in this country. It's dying anyway, but at NBC it's a sticking, rotting corpse.

It just depends on who you believe.

On the one hand you have a person who worked for a Stalinist society, which usually engages in horrific abuse of its prisoners.  Now, 50 years later, he says that they were all buddy/buddy.

My study of the Gulags would indicate that this was a very rare type of situation, which makes me question its veracity.

On the other hand, you have the testimony of hundreds of POWs, who gave statements decades before McCain went into politics, so they were not influenced by this campaign.

They all routinely say that there was horrific abuse and torture of POW.

Their versions are corroborated by X-rays showing broken bones and the medical condition they were in when released.

Of course, for some on the American left, they will always believe the people who were fighting the US.

The truth is no one breaks his arm several times to run for POTUS one day.

Yes, journalism is dead. Why would someone even publish it. NBC and MSNBC is trying hard to become the National Enquirer/Star of the MSM. They are almost there, give it a few more weeks.
