At that point, his Liberal Party was 24 points behind the Conservative Party.  There was no way the Liberals could win the next election.  

 
And then a miracle happened - Donald Trump became president.  With his talk of tariffs, the 51st state and endorsing the Conservative Party, Trump single-handedly wiped out a 24 point lead in less than four months and handed the LIBERAL Party a victory.

Alberta is moving ahead with leaving Canada. And Saskatchewan may be soon to follow. Alberta is working on a referendum to collect enough signatures to ask voters if they want to leave Canada.
