Create a National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank: Barack Obama and Joe Biden will address the infrastructure challenge by creating a National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank to expand and enhance, not supplant, existing federal transportation investments. This independent entity will be directed to invest in our nation’s most challenging transportation infrastructure needs. The Bank will receive an infusion of federal money, $60 billion over 10 years, to provide financing to transportation infrastructure projects across the nation. These projects will create up to two million new direct and indirect jobs and stimulate approximately $35 billion per year in new economic activity.
Invest In A Clean Energy Economy And Create 5 Million New Green Jobs: Obama and Biden will invest $150 billion over 10 years to advance the next generation of biofuels and fuel infrastructure, accelerate the commercialization of plug-in hybrids, promote development of commercial scale renewable energy, invest in low emissions coal plants, and begin transition to a new digital electricity grid. The plan will also invest in America's highly-skilled manufacturing workforce and manufacturing centers to ensure that American workers have the skills and tools they need to pioneer the first wave of green technologies that will be in high demand throughout the world.
Boost the Renewable Energy Sector and Create New Jobs: The Obama-Biden plan will create new federal policies, and expand existing ones, that have been proven to create new American jobs. Obama and Biden will create a federal Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) that will require 25 percent of American electricity be derived from renewable sources by 2025, which has the potential to create hundreds of thousands of new jobs on its own. Obama and Biden will also extend the Production Tax Credit, a credit used successfully by American farmers and investors to increase renewable energy production and create new local jobs.
Create a National Network of Public-Private Business Incubators: Barack Obama and Joe Biden will support entrepreneurship and spur job growth by creating a national network of public-private business incubators. Business incubators facilitate the critical work of entrepreneurs in creating start-up companies. Obama and Biden will invest $250 million per year to increase the number and size of incubators in disadvantaged communities throughout the country.
Socialism? Im not sure. I guess it could be.
BareAss Hussein Obama/Osama and Lyin "Uncle Joe" Biden.
Does your nurse know you're foaming at the mouth again?
Sweatleaf,
I have to give you credit here. I may not agree with your stance but at least you give reasons for your siding with the Obama campaign. AS for socialism, I still believe the Obama camp is the most Liberal candidate this country has ever seen. The people in this country have been making bad decisions for example using their homes as atm machines.. the 7 year party is over! Its time for the 4 year hangover. These folks need to realize that it is not governments job to lend the helping hand. The only helping hand in my world is the one at the end of my sleeve. The Dems want the people to rely on them! If they didn't they would not have a job! This is what the democratic (socialist) party is all about. Dont get me wrong...I dont want more of the same either. The Bush years grew government unlike any other administration and it has a lot of republicans very upset with them also. The two sides just have different views on how to fix the economy. Shrink government is what the republicans believe. This way they will be able to do smarter things with the tax money they have. Dems want to increase taxes and keep government the same size or larger. The country can recover either way, the question is how do you want to go about doing it? Higher taxes or smaller government? Peace..
You have great faith in the ability to plan so perfectly.
Social planning often fails because it is not possible to account for all the variables. Slight changes in social structure have enormous implications.
In 1954, if you said TV would lead to obesity in children, you would have been a nut.
In 1990, if you said that internet would put record stores and newspapers, you would have been a nut.
If you have faith in Obama's huge plans, I wish you luck. I just don't think it will work.
Just out of curiousity, where does this 5 million new jobs come from. Are there any neutral studies showing how many will be created? No. Kind of made up this number and it sticks.
But it seems to be done at a very local level.
Kicking around some green ideas and citing Mexico as an example.
Of course millions of "green jobs" are going to be created. The quesion is who is going to do it?
Prius already creates thousand. Recyclers already create thousands. Those new light bulbs. Wind turbines on the way to Palm Springs. More efficient refrigerators. I can't even begin to list the scores of new jobs that are being created already.
MY QUESTION was where does he come up with the 5 million that he is going to create with his programs. That is just a magic number.
Even that is a side question, which was just an example. My main point was that social planning is notoriously hard to predict and many times goes the wrong way, or a different way. There are so many variables, most of which are not known. The larger the group, the more unknowns. When the experimental base is 300,000,000 million people, to predict with anything close to accuracy is as much a leap of faith as any religous doctrine.
All the things in the original post are nice. I hope they work.
I just don't believe it.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for saving the environment and renewable energy in a rational and practical way. Proposals these nuts are just really nuts.
There is no way we are going from here directly to renewable and non-polluting energy. Only can be achieved in steps. Drilling, CNG, Nuclear, Hydrates, wind, sun all has to play a role to get there in the future and it will not be in the next 10 years for sure.
You should be hoping for BHO to be a dismal failure. That's the Democrat way to look at losing elections.

This is a capitalist lackeys wet dream. There is pork here to create a generation of capitalist lackeys.
I have to ask if the use of words like "lackys" is satire or if you are really serious.
Sorry if I sound dumb but on the one hand people do use words like that, so it is possible it is serious.
However, on the other hand, the choice of words just screams out from the failed experiments of the past that it is hard to believe people really still use that language.
I see you have been properly indoctrinated. Experimentation is the way that scientists solve problems. Eventually through experimentation civilizations will evolve into an economic structure that is more compatible with the planet that we exist on.

You just spout jibberish.
Government reinvestments needs reinvest in themselves. All of this crap is nothing but baloney.
Public -Private Business incubators? By the time O'Bambino finish taxing the rich and redistributing wealth, it would be Public-Government incubator.
Boost the renewable energy, what Ethanol subsidy? One fucked up idea to spend ~$1.25 to 0.75¢ of energy with 70% efficiency. In real math, $1.25 would produce 0.50¢ energy thus saving what?
Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank, yep, another Bombastic idea to borrow money from whom? Chinese aren't loaning money due to investment conditions now and the bombastic taxation proposal. People invest/loan money to make more money and if 50% of it is taxed, they go somewhere else. See how it all fits together so wonderfully.
Any more Bombastic stories trying defend an indefensible position?
