45, 30, 36. Problem solved then wasted

During the campaign, Obama said there were 45 million uninsured.  That number changed to 30 when he addressed Congress.

This means in 7 months in office he fixed 1/3 of the problem.  At that rate, if they DON'T pass anything, everyone will be insured in another year and a half.

Sadly, Pelossi just announced the new House bill which she said will provide insurance to 36 million.  That means we will be paying insurance for an extra six million people to get insurance who already have it, for a waste of 20%.

on September 9 that 30 million Americans “cannot get" health insurance. That is a very different claim than his campaign claim that 46 million Americans "lacked" health insurance.

While neither number is a hard number supported by the census or other reliable data, the 46 million number included illegal aliens and the 30 million supposedly does not. And there is a big difference between the young who "lack" health insurance but can get it. and the 30 million who "cannot get" it bc of pre-existing conditions or lack of funds

Although I think Mr. Obama pulled the 30 million number out of the air, that should not be a concern to  many of the posters on this board who are happy to do this when the issue is the cost of defensive medicine.

If it is 45 don't have it, and 30 of them can't get it, then still the 15 million may not have it, although they could get it if they wanted.

(And you are being a little picky. He may have said it, but don't try to tell me he wasn't talking about the same problem. They tell me I am not as dumb as I look.)

If that is true, than it was kind of alarmist to make them part of the big problem six months ago. I don't want to pay for irresponsible.

And if he isn't including illegals in his solution, why did he make them part of the problem?

YES. WE AGREE. I am sure he pulled the number out of the air.  BUT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT SPENDING A TRILLION DOLLARS. We have no idea as to the ultimate ramifications of what will turn out. We have no good idea about the impact on the economy and everything else.

Before you do something that will affect every American, as Baccus said it would when he introduced his bill, don't you want to even know how bad the problem is?

Or should we just propose solutions for problems that are based on numbers pulled out of the air?
