So pay attention and learn.

The tariffs are not put on the Chinese goods to raise tax money, but it will raise tax money if Americans continue to buy the NOW overpriced Chinese products.  The tariffs are to make South Korean and Japanese products of the same type more attractive because there are no tariffs and those countries and the prices will be lower than the Chinese goods.  In effect, the tariff decreases the demand for their products and they will have to either agree to Trump's trade terms or watch their factories go out of business while the Koreans and Japanese take over their markets in the US.  Its a good strategy to bring the Chinese to their knees with regards to unfair trade practices.  Only the stupidest of Democrat's will still buy the Chinese goods at the higher prices when they get like goods from Korea or Japan for less.

The bottom like is that it is unlikely to produce much tax revenue even though in theory, its a high tax rate.

You seem to understand my prior explanation.  I'm not sure if you agree with it. Tariffs are an economic issue.  It doesn't matter to me who is promoting them.  Trump and Schumer are together on this one.  Are you with Trump and Schumer also?  I am.

business owners I know are all for tariffs, and the majority are "righties."  Tariffs will ultimately end China's unfair trade practices that Chuck Schumer (you do know he's NOT a "rightie" don't you?) has talked about recently at length.  We lived through 8 years of China raping our markets under Obama.  It seems disingenuous not to give Trump a year to bring them to their knees with the tariffs.

But I hate the fact that other countries have been imposing tariffs on us for decades without us fighting back even more. Trump is the first POTUS who has fired a single shot in these trade wars which go back decades with our so called "friends" and adversaries alike.

The US economy is stronger that anyone alive can remember, and the rest of the world by comparison is struggling. What better time to start fighting back? And what other weapons do we really have in our arsenal but tariffs? I suppose we could ask them "nicely" like Obama tried, but I think we all know how well that strategy worked out for us. (Of course not all of "us" are willing to admit it)

For the record, I am willing to bet we get a deal before the end of the year. China, on their part will step up their purchases of grain, oil and other commodities from us, which will lower our trade deficits with them. I don't think the entire problem of them stealing our IP will be completely solved, but I believe it will be addressed and at least some major steps in the right direction will be taken. We on our part will roll back the tariffs and business will go back to "business as usual" more or less, with both parties being able to look like winners. Keep in mind, China has a huge population and not enough arable land to feed themselves, they have also taken over our former position as the biggest importer of oil in the world, while we have taken over the position as the biggest oil producer. The Chinese are literally begging to buy our oil.

a "$400 emergency" is, so we have no clue what you are talking about.  I asked you a few weeks ago the LAST time you said it, and you ducked the question.  Now, as usual, you are just repeating yourself using vague terms and we still don't know what you're talking about.  If YOU know what you're talking about, then how about defining what a $400 emergency is?

So I looked up your source.  It claims that some Americans don't have $400 CASH laying around to pay for an emergency, SO THEY WOULD HAVE TO PUT IT ON A CREDIT CARD.  So unlike your insinuation, their car will still run, their teeth won't fall out, and they can still get their medicine.   When you hype stuff like this, you look like a drama queen.

I know that they would have to pay back the $400, but its about $9-10 a month, so what is the big deal.  Send your girlfriend to the movies without you, and you have your payment, then offer her a little cuddle when she gets back.  Problem solved.

is closing all 450 locations.  Trump only closed a couple of his "locations" back in the 90's.  Would you say that the CEO of this closing company is a huge fraud, a cheater, and fucks everybody he does business with, like you did with Trump?  Most of his creditors will not get paid what they are currently owed.  Closing ALL of the stores means he's not even trying to reorganize to get SOME of his creditors paid like Trump did.  Does that mean this CEO is the biggest dick of all time, even surpassing what you think of Trump?  What's the name of the company?  Who is this guy?

Pay back $10 a month, they shouldn't have a credit card in the first place, and I'll bet if you looked at the Credit Card statement for most of these losers, they have bought a lot of frivolous stuff on credit that they didn't need.  Why is it that Dems always want someone else to pay the freight to get them out of trouble after they get THEMSELVES into trouble?  That's why they all want the nanny-state to take care of them.

Some of them, or at least one in particular, turn to church groups to take care of them, all the while disparaging them for their beliefs. I wonder what the odds are of that same person EVER being able to qualify for a credit card himself? lol

For the record, I also disparage virtually ALL religions and religious kooks, but I don't take their handouts, eat their food, and use their wifi in order to talk shit about them on the internet.

is called "integrity."   I would rather be homeless than to seek handouts and freebies from any group that I had disdain for.  Of course, OTOH, if HE was homeless, where would he get an internet connection, which means he wouldn't be here, which in turn raises the question, "Who would we make fun of then?"  Lol

I have never heard of a company closing ALL of their stores and creditors still getting paid everything they are owed.  How about the name of the company, and we can look it up for ourselves?

If this ISN'T one of your Bullshit stories, just name the company.  No company with 650 stores is under the radar.  I can look it up.  Just give the name.  OR is it Bullshit as I suspect?

It's a publicly traded company, and as usual LTM is just pulling his "facts" out of the air. He has no idea if the creditors are going to get paid, and as a business man yourself you know how unlikely it is that ALL creditors are going to get paid when a company shuts down hundreds of stores.

The name of the company BTW is Ascena Retail Group, trading under the ticker symbol ASNA on the NASDAQ and their financial woes have nothing to do with the booming economy despite what a certain poster would like you to believe. Quite the contrary, it's the "discount stores" that are losing the most money under the Ascena umbrella, with the more premium outlets at the higher price points being more profitable.

Back to your point, Ascena is drowning in debt, and since most of these closures and divestitures are in an aim to cut costs it's highly unlikely that even most of the creditors are going to get paid in full, much less ALL of them, but since when can you take ANYTHING that a certain poster has to say at face value?

your question so that its clear you are seeking info rather then in the context of a false narrative that you like to start with.

I am a Libertarian because I believe that 1)  you should be allowed to do what you want, as long as it doesn't intrude on MY right to do what I want, and 2) As long as I'm paying my taxes and obey the laws, I don't want government intruding on any aspect of my life.  Damn.  I should have made the headline, "2 thiings",  but that's been beat to death by incessant repetition on this board.
