If young able-bodied men and women aren't willing to sign up in adequate numbers to support a war effort, then that war effort is doomed anyway (see Vietnam). The only thing accomplished by having a draft is to regularize the process by which willing young men sign on to serve their country (see WWII)

Taxes?  Bleh.  Most tax money is wasted.  Yes, I pay my taxes, because my only alternative is incarceration.  But the modern taxation system is so f'd, and the size and scope of government needs to be drastically reduced, and alternate methods of government getting the very small amount of revenue it requires in order to perform its most vital and necessary functions need to be considered.

Car insurance?  Are you kidding?  A state matter, not a federal one, for sure.

Showing proof of citizenship to vote and to receive government benefits--  You have to show ID to do anything in the modern United Socialist States of America--boarding a plane, getting a library card, entering and exiting certain public and private buildings, renting a hotel room…the list goes on.

Yet somehow or other, it's proof of the most malign evil that it is suggested that we might require that people show ID in order to vote or receive government benefits.  Haven't you ever wondered how it is that Harry Reid is one of the most hated politicians in America (Yes, even in his home state) and yet somehow wins re-election every time?  The exact mechanism by which this occurs is left as an exercise for the reader…

Governmnent-mandated education via government-approved schools, teaching a government-sanctioned curriculum:  How is this different from the "People's Republic of China"?

You democrats/liberals/socialists/progressives on this board amaze me sometimes.  If you get your full sprawling super-state someday, I hope you realize that "the hobby" is going to get thrown out the window right along with any other vice you might enjoy.
