...And not just for his endurance at the hands of  his N. Vietnamese wartime captors  but for his consistent resolve in the face of a dread disease that threatens his life. John McCain deserves hero status as much or more than any American. He is a great example to this entire nation by just doing his job despite his current health adversity, & he is one more great person that President Trump has belittled.

Perhaps because he's kind of a mixed bag himself.  For example:
1) Son and grandson of Admirals he had a wild streak and was kind of a disaster at the Naval Academy and as a pilot.
2) Demonstrated courage and resolve as a POW while Delicate Donnie claimed bone spurs for his deferments.
3) Got elected to Congress and the Senate and decided to run for Prez against Dubya  At this point I thought I could vote for him until I found out he was Right to Life.
4) Bush ran a dirty campaign against him but he ended up kissing Dubya's butt. I lost respect.
5) Did a wonderful thing when, during the '08 campaign a racist old lady told him Obama was a Muslim Arab.  He grabbed the mic from her and schooled her.
6) He's been on both sides of so many issues it's hard to tell WTF he really believes.  He was one of those who supported a reasonable policy on immigration but then abandoned it.
On balance, I do have some respect for him but can't really trust him. I hope he manages to survive a very difficult cancer.

McCain is the only Republican senator with a set of balls and a brain that actually functions..

praising Sen. McCain when just a couple of elections ago he was the evil, growing-senile war monger that they would never trust as our President.

He's one of the very few republicans that has guts and the courage to stand up and to push for order through legislation. On the health care bill, that was done in secret, with no debate, no score with 13 old white republican men  hiding in the closet, not telling anyone what was on the bill,trying to jam a shit bill through. We know he hates the ACA, but at least if there's a better plan by the republican, it should be bought up in the house, a bi-partisan hearing. It's going through the process. It's what he wanted.Yeah I know republicans don't have a plan
So I say "good for you Senator McCain", in this time, when the do nothing,, fighting among themselves republicans leaders are useless, you're still a fuck, but you're our fuck.
