Is 2011, the year of the CLASH? For those who do not

remember or do not not know, the "Clash" were a musical rock group from the late 1970's and 1980's. At one time they were considered, the only band that matters. They wrote and played some catchy, and some say rebellious music. The events of 2011 fit perfectly into a soundtrack. Let me begin:

(1) "Rock the Casbah". From the album (yea I am that old) "Combat Rock", refers to Arab Spring and the revolution that began in Tunisa earlier this year and spread to Egypt, Bahrain, Libya and Syria. Can't wait for further crazy Casbah sounds.

(2) "Should I stay or should I go". Though this song can be applied to the Obama Presidency I believe it best describes the "Newt Gingrich" candidacy for President. I mean his campaign has been nothing short of bizarre. However if President Obama does stay, I guarantee a line from the song will come true: "If I stay there will be trouble".

(3) "Bankrobber". Enough said, a classic tune about the thievry on Wall Street and the halls of Congress and the credit downgrade.

(4) "Guns of Brixton" and "London Calling". Yep, DNCphil knows this story. More riots in merry old England.

(5) "Train in Vain". The line " I got a job but it don't pay" I believe best defines most American's economic situation.

(6) "Spanish Bombs". My favorite of the Spanish Civil War. This song I predict will be the finale for the year when P.I.G.S. (Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain) or more specficially Spain defaults on their loans. The Euro will fall and Spanish Bombs will rain on Andalusia.

Now here is my question: were the "Clash" being prophetic? Does history really repeat itself? This thread will probably only get a couple of reads, but figured why not I was getting tired of casanova's posts. Joe Strummer kicked ass and I loved the Clash. Rock the Casbah was our unofficial song in Desert Storm.

even though is not theirs. It's a really old song. But I like their version:

but would have sounded better if they had singed like this:

I've been a big fan of the Clash since I was a teen. I'm a bigger fan of their earlier work. But they just wrote really great songs that stand the test of time.

"All over people changing their votes/Along with their overcoats/If Adolf Hitler flew in today/
They'd send a limousine anyway" perfect discription of the Tea Party.

And I love to sing this song whenever I go shopping.
