It is common knowledge, when the rule of law has not been followed--evidence has been illegally obtained/planted, we have let some criminals off the hook, to protect the purity of our criminal justice system. While those instances truly sting and leave a bad taste in any fair-minded person's mouth, this is the bedrock of our checks and balances, on authority.
Machiavelli had it right; "power corrupts and absolute power, corrupts absolutely." Good example, once again, the Trump team is NOT making America great. This could happen to YOU!
It's also fair to point out that Loretta Lynch was a big supporter of Civil Forfeitures too.
That said, I agree 1,000% that civil asset forfeitures as they stand now should be declared unconstitutional and this plan by Sessions will only make it worse. I don't know if Sessions could possibly be worse than his predecessor in the person of Loretta Lynch, but he is doing his damnest to catch up in record time.
For the record, your claim that Sessions is "infecting our criminal justice system with his brand of bigotry" is a bit overblown, This is bad granted. But Sessions didn't invent civil asset forfeiture, he is simply attempting to make something already bad even worse. There is plenty of blame to go around where it comes to this issue, on BOTH sides of the aisle.
