I realize the anti gun crowd won't be satisfied unless criminals are the only ones with guns.

The real goal of the anti-gunners is to chip away at gun rights until ALL guns are made illegal, just like Huck freely admitted was his goal. The very same can be said with the "right to life" crowd. They consider all abortions murder and their "common sense" abortion proposals are much the same, to chip away at abortion rights until ALL abortions are also illegal.
It's really hard to have a debate with people with such disingenuous goals, but just remember Trump is not a "real" Republican, he may very well be willing to make some changes.
Speaking for myself, I am open to a few changes, but I doubt many if any lives will be saved. I am all for banning "bump stocks" they have no real legit purpose and I won't miss them at all. I am also ok with raising the age to buy an AR 15 to 21, but I have no delusions that simply making one kind of gun a little harder to get really addresses the root cause of mass shootings. and lastly I am in agreement that people with mental health issues should not be walking around armed, any more than senile people should be allowed to drive.

The NRA and their families, I personally would not have a problem with that because changes would have been made a long time ago.
They were lucky last year in Alexandria VA last year - need a lot more of that.
