Alhough I disagree with them, I sincerely want to give credit to some of the far left Dems who have been critical of President Obama.

I have to say that they are being true to the principles that they have expressed in the past.   As I say, and can't stress enough, I disagree with them, but within the frame work of their intellectual beliefs they are being consistent and honest and applying the same standard to Obama as they did to Bush.

I can respect them as long as they are being consistent, which they are.

Congrats where due. (Even though it pains me beyond belief to say anything good about Maxine Waters.  I need a BIG drink.)

You are happy to give credit to anyone who'll criticise Obama no matter what else you may disagree with them about.  Time for some self-examination, perhaps?

I was not being sarcastic.

If you look at my previous thread, the entire thing was about being consistent to your beliefs.  that was the point of the Exit Strategy.  My point there was that people made up rules to attack Bush that weren't being applied to Obama.

In the early stages of his career, I supported some of the things he was talking about in terms of parental responsibility and education.

"W's" problem was listening to the adviser who gave him the wrong reason for Iraq. He should have said "For humanitarian" reasons for we know Hussein was killing his own people also. Then the world would have been on board to capture the oil. Oh by the way I guess Hillary also got the OK from the pres. of the 3 majors to go ahead that their ratings would not suffer with an unpopular war. Have we gotten a daily civi body count? The prosecution rests

I think the adviser(s) "W" listened to were telling him what he wanted to hear to begin with.  I also don't accept that if he'd tried to sell the war on humanitarian grounds, or even for oil, he would have gotten Congress to go along.
PS: We didn't get an oil anyway.

Please re-read my  post.  I never said or implied you were being sarcastic, simply that there was possibly a double standard going on in that you were happy to give Liberals  credit for once, but only when they agreed with you.  Geez, phil, do you practice law in Philadelphia?  You seem to continually misconstrue people's arguments in order to rebut  them.  Makes it hard to have a meaningful  discussion with you.

That's why I choose not to participate in his whining about President Obama and how unfairly Ex-president Bush was treated, masquerading as sincere political discussion. ;)

This was not critical of Obama.  I have mixed feelings about this and don't know whether it was right or wrong.  If anything, I have sympathy for him in this issue as he is between a rock and a hard place, and there is no "good" answer.

I think I have been pretty consistent about double standards, not necessarily relating to Obama, but generally.

To quote Olbermann, "We are not bound to an individual. We are bound to principles."

No matter how screwed up those principles are, they trump the conservative principle of servile obedience to a daddy figure. ;)
