Mari should be excited about this news.

After Trump’s victory, I and everyone I know believed that firearm sales would reduce to their pre-Obama levels. President Obama was widely credited with creating a very large increase in firearm sales over the past 8 years. Indeed, stock values for firearm manufacturers took a big hit after the election but then along comes this news.

Last week gun sales resulted in a record number of FBI background checks for Black Friday. Could it be that Progressive’s fear of the future under President Trump has motivated these unexpected sales? I wonder how mari will be feeling at the next wine and cheese tasting party knowing that some of his friends might now be “packing”.

gun sales.  However, mobs running wild in our streets may be the real reason.

here is now no chance of any federal gun safety law being passed. So it all is left to the states. The result- utter confusion.

Take Texas, where the best looking P & R Board posters live. The learned but indicted attorney general of this state has ruled that county court houses cannot legally keep guns out of the building. Yet this same bozo has said guns can be prohibited at the zoo. WTF?

So imagine a judge about to pass sentence on a drug dealer. He looks up and sees 5 or 6 members of the audience armed to the teeth.

Yeah, that’s what open carry gives you. Fortunately, a trial judge has overruled the AG for the moment but who knows what will happen on appeal

It seems your quarrel should be more properly placed with the Texas State Legislature for a poorly worded statute.  Still, your example stretches the truth as firearms can still be exempted from courtrooms, just not entire building that also contain offices having nothing to do with the state’s judiciary according to the AG’s interpretation. The AG does not contend that open carry is permitted into restricted courtrooms.  BTW, do you believe drug dealers are issued carry permits?

But back to my OP, do you have any liberal friends now purchasing firearms

of open carry laws. You go from no open carry at all, to open carry except in county buildings, to open carry in county buildings except the court room, and finally  to open carry in the court room of the court building.

So again this is what you get when you start down the road of open carry.  You are correct that the AG’s law suit acknowledges the law is not clear- does it prohibit  handguns from being brought into a courthouse or building housing a court –or only the room where the judicial activities are conducted? He takes the latter interpretation but this is shocking enough for me.

There is little rationale for allowing gangs/drug dealers into the courthouse building fully armed but then to prohibit them from taking the last step into the court room. If the Second Amendment protects the former, it also protects the latter. The DA, the judge, the state’s witnesses all walk through the non-court areas.

Fortunately, the judge has stopped this march for the moment. As to granting carry permits to drug dealers, I do not think they list “drug dealer” when they apply for a carry permit. And there is currently a movement to allow constitutional carry – i.e., no permit required at all.  As to whether I have any friends now buying guns, that is a moot question- where I live, they already have them.
