GOP keeps control of Kansas House seat, first election under Trump

...as there are many factors that can decide local races that we simply don't know about nationally.

That being said, while this is a win for the R's, it can't be spun as good sign for them. R's spent tons of money and brought in big guns last minute to hold a seat when they should have rolled to a large victory easily without doing so.

Let's see the results of the next special election, as each additional race gives us a larger sample size to draw conclusions.

...Trump smashed Clinton 60%-33%.  Jack' s right - you're spinning like a frigging top.  Look how much Trump has dragged down the GOP in less than three months.

The NRCC spent $100'000. in the last few days on ads.  The DNCC spent nothing to help the Democrat and the Kansas State Democratic Party refused to fund mailers.

Estes has name recognition; he's been the Kansas State Treasurer for six years.  His Democratic opponent was running for office for the first time.

Trump and Pence recorded robocalls for Estes and Ted Cruz came to Kansas to stump for him.  Yet with all that help, Estes only won by seven points after Trump won by 27 and Pompeo won by 31 just three months ago.  You must be so dizzy from all that spinning you're doing.  One more blooper by Dr. Blooper.

A guy righties don't really like, in a state where the governor isn't liked still won.

Imagine if the candidate was a Trump Republican. He'd have won by 30.

Why is your regressive party so cheap?  Why didn't they support their candidate?  Weird. I guess they always knew they wouldn't win. What I read was most of the regressive donations came from out of state.

Maybe we can get you a participation ribbon.

Spent a block talking about this race and the ATL seat race formerly held by HHS price. The premise was the "backlash" had begun and R's were at real risk of losing this seat. I guess not.

That's the point. And why in the world was that? I am not willing to say this portends bad things to come for the GOP in 2018 as again, you cant draw any valid conclusions from just one race, but it should act a wake up call and I am sure they are at least mildly concerned at the RNC and will be more so if the Ga race is a loss or very close.

Out in the real world, your fellow Republicans are starting to desert you.  2018 is starting to look less than promising.
