As disturbing as it may be, These are people too. The ones that are registered are not the ones that you should be worrying about. Think of how many who are NOT registered living near you.

It is illegal to use websites like this, and the flyers they hand out when someone moves into your neighborhood for any ILL purposes. Many of them are employed, and have the mark of "sex offender" to follow them for the rest of their lives. Do I think it's right and ok for people like this to get away with sex offenses? No. But please realize they are people too, and not all of them are "Bad".

A guy I go to school with is a convicted "Sex Offender" and is required to register. The reason? He is 24 years old. He was drinking at a popular night club in Scottsdale one night and on the way out of the club in a drunken state pulled out his Dingle to take a pee in the parking lot. Cop arrested him for indecent exposure and he carries the mark of SEX Offender for the rest of his life.

I just tried browsing a few offenders, and yes, there are some bad people, but there are also some much less-frightening convictions included in their definition.  The net is being thrown so wide by the religious right that you can bet they'll soon be using the public's legitimate concerns for children's safety to attack individuals like you and me for 100% victimless crimes.  (If you don't believe me, check out http://az.gov/webapp/portal/sows.jsp?name=sows210, where you'll see that someone convicted of violating escort, cabaret or adult bookstore laws would have to register for the rest of his/her life!  Anybody remember Milo from Chameleon?)
