Hi Guys and Gals,

First, I want to thank everyone who has called, emailed and texted me this morning! I really appreciate the community checking up on me!

My email account has been hacked. I am not in London. I have not been mugged and I do not need you to send money.

The scary part is, whomever has hacked my email account has erased/stolen every email I have ever received or sent and they have erased/stolen my address book.

I can't figure out why someone would do this? In the email that was sent out, there was no address to send money to and if someone replied to the email, it came back to me. Where is the benefit for the hacker?

If anyone has tips on how to protect oneself from this happening again, I would love the advice.

Also, so hopefully no one else falls for this, I received an email from yahoo.com this morning telling me that I needed to verify my account or else it would be terminated. When I clicked on the link it redirected me back to the login page where I entered my user name and password. My mistake!

I feel so stupid! I know not to do that! Anyway, in my own defense, I had only one sip of coffee in me, my eyeballs were barely open and my brain was not functioning (obviously).

Have a Merry Christmas everybody!

It looks like I will be starting fresh in 2012! Its funny how these things work out.

xoxo

Sorry about that Gina. First thing I noticed was the writing was not your style. Just think the good that these hackers could do if they put their computer skills to work doing good.

I do wish they would use their knowledge for good...
Hum ho...

Or some hacker. I know how you fell it happened to me one night after one to many martinis.

There is a string virus running through Yahoo,
it's attached to the email so as soon as you open the email it attacks your address book. You do not have to click on or respond to anything its automatic and the emails start going out as soon as the email is clicked open.

I run this once a day usually before I shut my machines down for the night and it gets all the adware tracking cookies and that crap from yahoo in addition to trojans etc.

www.Superantispyware.com - free version is just as good as the paid version and it will get the crap out of your machine.

My normal Program that I have running all the time is

Trend Micro's Titanium version.
which is rated #1 this year.

Merry Christmas & that helps.

It's from a spam mail that you opened...  =( sorry you are having to go through this!

Does that mean I won't get my $20,000 back?

So not only do you have to put in your password, you also have to put in the 6-digit verification number that gets texted to your phone when you go to log in.  Even if they steal your PW, they most likely won't have access to your phone.
