Of course, carefully inspecting the donation on the spot, and possibly confronting the passer of fake bills, are both problematic.

with 100's and 50's a while ago.

I carry the pens too...but I just look at it in the light and if the HEADS don't match...it's a fake.

As far as the polite thing to do...it depends on your screening and comfort level.    I would make darn sure they are REAL before you spend them though.  Passing them on is even worse...at least if you know right away you can still do something about it.  Just cause someone passes it on, it doesn't mean they MADE it.  

If you do find someone passing them on purpose then someone should be told.  We have an open forum here for exactly that...at least discussion of what to do?

As far as I know they were caught.  I wonder if this is a NEW group?  It would be unwise to target us as we have our way of exposing RIP-OFFS here....right?

Actually, I heard it a problem nationwide. Apparently, a lot of the counterfeit bills are coming from Columbia with illegal drugs and being laundered on the street. Unless it comes from the bank, it is hard to trust any $100 coming your way.

There is no $402  bill so don't give change!

We have been monitoring the situation and feel the need to clear some "urban myths".

"if it is yellow and has a train on the corner..." - FALSE. Monopoly money is what we produce. There is no real, well, anything behind the money we print.

"Jenny 876....." - FALSE. I was drunk one night and thought Jenny would get a kick out of it; so I ran off a few thousand hundreds. She used the money to settle - "debts pubic and privates".


Seriously, the dough is suspected to be washed out $1 bills. That is why the magic pen works.

I stand corrected, but am hoping to stand erected!
