What's interesting is that this was a Federal wiretap that snared Spitzer.

Maybe azlawman can share some insights into what sort of 'reason' is necessary for a federal wiretap?

I think that in Arizona wiretaps are limited to serious crimes.... such as extortion, murder, Racketeering, ...

i saw his little speech on CNBC a few hours after the news broke.  He said the usual.. i made a mistake i should have never made, yada, yada, yada, yada.  His only mistake was paying $3000 and hour when he could have come to Phoenix and spent time with 8-10 of our lovely ladies ALL AT ONCE for that kind of cash!!

The New York governor rents expensive, high-end, upscale ladies for sex. What is it about the man’s psychology that prompts him to do this?

I’m sure a man in his position could get all the free sex he wants--or needs. Also, he is married(as are most hobbyists). If he were single, would it change the dynamics of the situation?

Again, what is it about the man’s psychology and the client/hobbyist/agency business relationship that leads him to do this? Was he enticed? Was it a honey trap?

If you’ll notice, the focus of all the media reports is on the plight of the governor, not the plight of the lady/s and/or agencies involved. There is a lot of illegal activity in and around this incident. There is a lot of money that changed hands. But, the press seems to ignore that fact and focus on the governor, his wife and family. Why? Why do they ignore the money?

They Sheika is intrigued because the money is much more important to the ladies than the human interest side of the story.

Is the real story about the governor and his wife and family? Or does the real tale lie in the business of buying and selling sex?

I look forward to hearing from you all,

LOVE AND PEACE,

Sheika Fatima

I interpreted the following part of the article (see bottom of this post) to mean the Governor may have requested or discussed certain acts prior to the meeting which may be the evidence they have on him. However, if he had just agreed to meet an escort could they prove that he intended the meeting for sex or that sex even took place?

Unfortunately for him the damage is already done, however, clearly he is a hypocrite for participating in the bust of an agency or two when he was AG and so I don't feel extremely sorry for him.

"According to court papers, an Emperor's Club agent was told by the prostitute that her evening with Client 9 went well. The agent said she had been told that the client "would ask you to do things that ... you might not think were safe ... very basic things," according to the papers, but Kristen responded by saying: "I have a way of dealing with that ... I'd be, like, listen dude, you really want the sex?""

Maybe the high rates were what got him busted in the first place. The attached link suggests that suspicious payments led his bank to contact the IRS which resulted in a FBI investigation to make sure that he wasn't trying to hide bribe payments.

....."According to a federal complaint, more than $1 million was laundered through the ring over four years."

Only $1 Mil in four years?  At those price points, sounds like this agency needed some better management.  LOL

This investigation started out as an IRS inquiry about unpaid taxes just like the large recent bust in Denver.  See 9news.com for stories by searching by subject.

The IRS seems to be targeting the "elite" agencies.  they are after tax money, but there is collateral damage.  In Denver, it was a Federal judge who got fingered.

What the hell was he thinking? The fed’s track that kind of money coming in or out of all banking accounts.

He made a mistake and got caught shame on him, his little head was doing his thinking just like the rest of us.

He should have had a pre paid anonymous cell phone and hid his cash pay offs.

With all this attention going on about him we better all go into hiding. The Fed’s have no more bad guys to go after and now can spend all their time looking for us. OMG

...why I'm wary of conducting business via phone, this is a big one.

New laws provide loopholes for Federal wiretaps if you are merely 'suspected' of illegal activity.  And since spending American dollars on everything from drugs to prostitutes "supports terrorism", no one is exempt.

However, I'm a firm believer that politicians should get as much pussy as possible.  Makes 'em a little less uptight.  (Yes... Hilary, too.)  :)

There are a bunch of people down in Ft. Huachucha, Az, intercepting phone, pager, text, email, etc. under the Patiot Act.  They set their computers to bring to their attention certain words and phrases, and then an analyst will look more closely at it to see if they think it's trouble.  I'm not saying that the NSA or CIA is involved in catching politicians calling hookers, but the technology is there, and once LE has probable cause to believe crimes are being committed, they can get warrants to do the same thing with individuals.  At that point, I doubt it matters whether you use the phone, email, or text.  (I'm pretty sure, however, that smoke signals and carrier pigeons are still safe.)

Having said that, there is NO reason to believe that this situation reflects an increased risk to any of us.  As was posted above, that agency was moving large sums of money, and got the attention of the IRS (although Spitzer was such a high-profile, aggressive Democrat that you have to wonder if this wasn't also some payback from the current administration.)  Local agencies will never get the resources that were spent on this investigation.

Repeating myself from earlier......

Fella's, erase your e-mails..... AND, ladies don't see anyone that is in politics or running for office All is always well that ends well though
Misappropriation of funds is always a sore subject with the grand jury. Having a lawyer that knows about a letter of immunity......priceless

Definition; to appropriate wrongly (as by theft or embezzlement)

And unfortunately I think we will all find out that money was wrongly appropriated Is that a word????? Oh well you get my meaning

You are probably right NIKITA... Fat chance on the money Everyone play safe and have a great day

Misty, the Sheika agrees, yes all men are horny but why do some pay such an exorbitant amount of money for something that is essentially free?

As a governor and state attorney general, Spitzer must have had a plethora of opportunities for great, free, sex. In many foreign country men in power often take advantage of this state of affairs without fear of reprisal. It is assumed that free and easy sex is just one of the perks of a politically powerful position—not to mention the fact that it is a good way for a lady to secure government employment… And,,,

Why would Spitzer take such a chance--the Mann Act, though difficult too prosecute is a felony--not a simple class one misdemeanor like prostitution.

The ladies, hobbyist and agencies of this community are well versed in their understanding of the psyche of seemingly intelligent men like Spitzer. Why, oh why, do they act like such stupid jerks…?

why would he hobby ?

i should think that using an escort service seemed like less risk than getting entangled with one of the hundreds of different dramas a civvie girl brings into the equation.

he was minimizing the risks of a girl getting emotionally involved with him or a girl who would blackmail him or file a sexual harassment suit or claim pregnancy (if rumors are true he preferred a bb service) and so on and so forth.

why would he pay so much ?

why do we spend $100 on a pair of jeans when we can get a pair for $20.

are they $80 better in quality ?
no.
but we are a brand conscious society and we are brainwashed to believe you get what you pay for. therefore, the higher the price, the better the quality.
(translation - he is pretentious)

oftentimes, when we are unsure about the product we are buying, we tend to believe that the highest priced will be the best so we may ignorantly pay more than is truly needed.
(translation- he is sexually inexperienced)

another reason he might spend that much is because quite simply, he can.  being able to afford to pay such a price is a satisfaction in and of itself.
(translation - he is insecure)

all theory of course

Gov. spitzer was into unsafe activities (according the transcripts ive heard on cnn and msnbc) very basic things supposedly. to my thinking he was barebacking it and had to pay extra for the service.

then too he needed a service that offered total discretion, and that always costs and wasnt that effective after all from ancedotal evidence. (bartender on red eye last night) there have been rumors for a while that spitzer was playing the hobby.

Of course given the way he went after the hobby in new york this was more than a little hypocritical and the way he forced his poor wife up on stage with him was reprehensible, talk about tossing someone under the bus. hell he didnt even apologize to her.

all in all i cant think of a nicer guy to be eating the shit sandwich this time around.

So if he is client #9 and a governor.  Who are clients #1 thru 8 and what are they thinking today?

So maybe Bill Clinton is Client #1 ???  I am sure they are nervous as hell right now.

Just something to think about.

According to the transcripts he had to cover her expenses:
3.5 hour train ride - both ways
cab ride to hotel
and she was at his hotel for 3 hours

so when you add it all up it comes to over 10 hours for her time alone and 4600 divided by 10 is 460/hour
and that doesn't include the other expenses he was to cover too

so all in all the price wasn't that outrageous.

I hear Spitzer spent $80,000.00 over a certain period of time that he had dealings with Empire.

Does anyone know how far back his dealings with the agency go? And, does anyone know who (all) in the agency were arrested and what they were charged with.

My kind thanks,

doing this for six years inculding a period while the atty general. they decided he needed to go to protect their credibility.
it opens all kinds of appeal avenues i would imagine for those he prosecuted if he were engaging in mann act felonies while a sitting attorney general.

of course i am not a lawyer so i dunno

by the Feds. The US DOJ was gunning for him for political reasons, and they were wiretapping him and monitoring his accounts for illegal activity.

When they found that he was not involved in anything more criminal that paying for sex, and was not taking bribes or influencing peddeling, the DOJ had to go after the agency to explain how they "accidentally" caught him.

That is starting to come out now in the NYC press.

The lesson: if you are a famous politician, don't be a hobbyist AND don;t get free BBBJs from interns.

I think that this was definately payback from the current administration and their supporters.

Bush and Co. know that they are on their way out of Washington and that the Department of Justice and the FBI will be turned on them starting in 2009. They are trying to do as much to destroy future leaders of the Democrats that they can before then - Spitzer was one, and and I think that there are others.

Don't despair, my friend... you've still got political potential.  As far as I can tell, one can't be in office without having some kind of sex scandal, sexual dysfunction or sexual orientation that puts him in the limelight.

I'll wait for the signal and then bust out my video footage of our hot and steamy night together.  You'll get a quick and painless divorce and a new identity from your friends at the top and I'll get a book deal.  We'll share the profits and go into business somewhere in Cabo.  Ta Da!

Spitzer made the decision to see providers not Bush and he was doing it while prosecuting them. Shame on him for living a double standard and not practicing what he preached. He got what he deserved.

We all make our own decisions on how we live our life. To condemn someone for what they do you better be walking on water because you’ll get caught in your own digressions.
