Talking about pricing...

isn't a no-no at all, in fact it's a sign of mutual respect. There is no question that trying to browbeat or bully someone you've never seen is both stupid and bad form. However discussing economic realities with someone you've established a relationship with is fine.

This is a business reality across all industries. I'm a fairly high end consultant with a fee structure above the norm for my industry. I never have an issue discussing fee's with a client...in fact I encourage it. I'd rather discuss the realities then have a client walk away. Most of the time I'm content to let a client walk...but not always. Either way I'd rather have the option and understanding of my former clients realities then give them a formal cold shoulder.

The real question here is are you a regular...or are you offering to be one. I wont bring up $$$ unless I'm already seeing someone repeatedly and want to see them more. Most recently I had this conversation with a gal I'd seen 4 or 5 times over a 3 month period. There had been a lull after the 1st 4 ( I think) and session #5 was very good (no question it was her "A game"). Afterward we were just hanging around talking a bit and she asked me if she'd see me again anytime soon. I told her the truth, 1) if future sessions were up to the last one I'd be stupid to go elsewhere. 2) While her rate was certainly fair, it was a bit uncomfortable under the current realities and that I was searching for a ATF I could afford to see at least once a week.

Bottom line is simple...

Her wants and my needs didn't/don't quite match up but our relationship is much stronger since there are no unanswered questions. She bumped here rate down for me a bit and I've seen her 2 more times since. I'm still looking for my next "steady ATF" and she's got a semi regular she likes and trusts...a win/win in my book.

So, the economy is hitting us all, and that means that there are some girls who's price is just getting a bit hard to keep up with.  My question is, what if you have a regular provider and want to keep seeing her but the prices are a bit high.  I know negotiating prices is a no-no, but if you wanna be a regular is it cool to discuss a "regular" discount?
Thoughts?
