Terri darling, if I didn’t know any better, I would have thought that you started this post just to rattle the Sheika’s cage. So,,,
The Gulf States are incredibly luxurious and incredibly expensive and it is all built for the pleasure of the backward, tribal mentality that passes for the confused brand of Islamic traditionalism that is practiced there. It can be the ultimate vacation retreat for the super, super rich, but its gets very, very old in a hurry. All that opulence is just not worth it.
The culture is insulting. Women—particular infidel women—are treated with contempt and disrespect. One minute the men are nice, the next minute they are evil—incredibly evil. Arab clients are just not worth it. Eventually, the true duplicitous nature of Arab males will emerge.
Dubai is the Casablanca and banking capital of the Middle East. Oil money is everywhere, but so is an unstable love/hate relationship with the west. Everything and anything can and often is purchased in Dubai. That is, everything but freedom and the magnificient natural beauty of the States.
Until one has actually lived and worked in the culture, it is difficult to explain the instability of the Islamic male mentality, and the degradation and the danger that lurks in the collective soul of Islam.
Please ladies, cherish your safety and freedom. In spite of its faults, the USA is the greatest and most enlightened country in the world.
LOVE, PEACE AND PROSPERITY

you post so well!
but the purpose of the link was because of the city itself not what it's made up of....that's why on my link I put "I wish it was here"
I would never travel anywhere to the Middle East, I know the way women are treated...etc....
Just found the way it was built and the looks of the city shaped in a Palm tree...etc....

Honestly, sweetheart, the Sheika truly loves your glowing critic of my posts. I hope they are not “tongue in cheek” (hmm, did the Sheika use that colloquialism correctly). You are very down to earth and probably the most genuine and sincere poster in these here wild and woolly parts of the great south western US of A.
You are right; architecturally Dubai is unique and fascinating. They have little else to do with their oil money, and they know that time is running out. Eventually, the wells will be dry, or our dependency on foreign oil will be replaced by an alternative. Soon they will be desperate.
There are no indigenous trees or even any cactus in the bleak expanse of desert in the Gulf States. The heat is unbelievably oppressive. There is a fine, choking dust everywhere. Wild life is sparse. No bears or deer or coyotes or bunnies. No babbling streams or pleasant spring rains. No Grand Canyon, no Yosemite, no Yellowstone. There is no natural beauty to remotely compare with what we have here in the States.
Their primitive system of the economic distribution of wealth is based upon lineage and archaic tribal custom. Building methods are oppressive, dangerous and based upon cheap foreign labor—often child labor. In spite of what the emirs and mullahs wish us to think, the whole culture is debasing and hedonistic and it is getting worse.
Again, everyone, please cherish your country and your freedoms.
LOVE, PEACE AND PROSPERITY,
Sheika Fatima

most of whom were paid a couple of dollars a day. Since thats not enough to live on they then have the dubious privilege of buying from a company store on credit, seeing company doctors on credit, and paying for hovels where four or five familes would be stuffed into two rooms monthly on credit. By the time their labor contracts are up most of them owe their overlord the Sultan of Dubai more than they made.
It is nothing more nor less than chattel slavery. They also have nothing to look forward to during their labor contracts but harsh sharia law for the smallest offense.
They arent even allowed on the beach they made with handtools for the enjoyment of the rich and powerful.
All that aside frankly theres not enough money in the world to induce me to set foot in the country that would give Micheal Jackson sanctuary.

Mobby, dearest, your comment about Michael Jackson is very appropriate.
Now listen to this, the Sheika had the unfortunate occasion to spend a day in a hospital in Kuwait. The heat was just too much for me. So, from personal experience I can assure you that the medical/hospital/surgical facilities in the Gulf States are some of the most advanced in the world; and, rumor has it that if one has the money you can purchase any and everything imaginable in Dubai…
Can you imagine Michael’s joy? Why he’ll be able to rebuild his face again and again and again…Hmmm, or maybe do an identity switch with Osama!!!
On a more serious note, the social structure of the Gulf States is very stratified. Only about 10% of the residents of any Gulf State are citizen. The rest are expatriates,
The expatriates do the work, while the male citizenry owns everything and controls the means of production and law enforcement. They believe that this is the will of Allah. The Pakistani, Indians, Africans, Omanies, and even some Australians, New Zealanders and Europeans are discriminated against.
In many public and private buildings they have special areas or lobbies where the outsiders must sit. This segregation is at the whim of the property owner, and it can be by race, gender, religious preference or any combination thereof.
Also, up close all the opulence and luxury has a distinctly third world, shoddy maintenance feel.
LOVE AND PEACE,
Sheika Fatima

We should have them come and finish our rail system.
85003, your post actually made me guffaw out loud! Thanks for the belly laugh.
But when you think about it it’s not funny. They build that 7 Star hotel in 18 months it’s going take 3 to 4 or more years just to lay 20 miles of track. I got to believe they got enough steel in that hotel to go from here to NY and back maybe more. Forget this I think your pictures on 411 are very sexy and I hope to meet you some day
but I wouldn’t take the rail over don’t want to be late.
Ah, yes... it is funny, but tragic-funny, not 'haha' funny. I think of those beautiful little mantras ingrained in our heads (like "Time is Money") and can understand why Americans are viewed as wasteful, opulent, fat-cats by other countries. But that would start a rant on commerce, politics, and faulty city-planning that could get me into trouble... ![]()
Too bad we can't just beam it over for us once in awhile! Place looks nice, but too scarey to go to! I look forward to hanging out with you soon again Terri! Your the bomb! ![]()
Jenni
to have dinner and drinks while your here!!!!!wink wink!!!!

Oh Terri you are teasing me again.
Nothing.Just another sensless and useless post from another boardqueen. I am not surprised that Queen Victoria is back and now you have some competition. I am not shocked that both you and Queen Victoria have been the number 1 and 2 posters on this board and the LA board and the San Diego board. Do us all a favor and start a blog and keep your junk off this board. too much drama and too much stupid nonsense. I've read more BS on here about dog food, stupid ass hotels in the middle east, Queen Victoria announces her triumphant return...by the way, Victoria posted on the SD board what a Paradise trip she had there and that the guys there are so wonderful. Do us all a favor and move there or just be the number one and two poster on their board.
thanks
Spend one night in an opulant hotel in the desert..... or
spend several nights with a variety of the Valley's finest???
hmmmmmmmm......
I saw a special on TV on how they are building those hotels with slave labor, pretty sad actually.
