've lived in Arizona a long time.... we don't need to know how long... June, July, and August are the months the natives leave.. you will get excellent rates at luxury hotels during those months..
You have to define what's too hot.. Phoenix will be triple digits.. around the 110 mark... June humidity will be low... (it's a dry heat, isn't it??)... July and August kick in the monsoons and the humidity gets a lot higher.. Assuming a static location, Tucson is more scenic than Phoenix and 5 degrees cooler on average.. Sedona is even more scenic and cooler than Tucson.. kinda the Santa Fe of Arizona.. full of right brained artsy-fartsy types into crystals, tarot, and vortices (vortex's ??)... great people watching.. and good ice cream.. Others will have conflicting comments and thoughts, but those are mine... Oh.. and Arizona is kinda like SoCal... without wheels, you are screwed unless you ate serious about imitating a rutabaga 24/7..
Best place to visit? Scottsdale/Sedona other areas? Best luxury hotel / definitely non-business related. Just a relaxing spa trip in gorgeous country, lil vaca. Did some research and I'm kinda stumped...AZ is one place I haven't made it to and anxious to check it out. Would love to hear from people who actually reside there or have vacationed there in the upcoming 2 months or so. Will probably be flying into Phoenix, not interested in getting a car. Just want to camp out for a week at an awesome place and veg.

I would not suggest camping in June. 100 degrees plus and it will not cool off at night. There are deals on hotels in the summer season. Winter time, forget about it,expensive. If you must camp try Prescott, Flagstaff or Payson. Good luck
