This is a copy of a post on the SD baord. I thought it would be nice to hear from some of the intelligent ladies that post here. Please pop over and join in.
The Post:
Ok my buddy and I had a long debate over this while playing 18 holes of golf this weekend. We have both been in the hobby for some time but disagree on this issue. I think it should be legal.
Should prostitution be legal and regulated? Should it become a legit profession in the eyes of the law and society? We already have legal brothels in Nevada! Most of the world has made it legal on their books or basically have decided to ignore it legally and just regulate it medically through monthly HIV/STD testing.
The providers and clients are going to do it anyways, theres really no way to stop it so.....?
So why not make it legal, theres the obvious medical issue of the women being checked, and the use of condoms being mandatory, this would stop a lot of the buisness going south o' the border and taking unecessary risks. Plus you know you would be getting a legit provider, no cash and dash or other games. No more pimps or strong arm tactics on the women and something the ladies might not like but it can be taxed!
Just food for thought, what do you all think?

we would find the requests for work/personal info disappearing as well as prices dropping all around. Ive always thought that the reason it isnt legal is that many powerfully connected people rather like the artifical price supports that illegality gives them.

The issue at hand is more complicated than tha positions of legalization versus the status quo. Another option, which has been raised in the past concerning marijuana, is decrimilization. In essence, decriminalization would mean the hobby is still illegal, however LE simply would not actively prosecute offenders.

I for one favor decriminalization over outright legalization. Although I definitely prefer the concept of outright legalization, I am not sure states have the infrastructure needed to regulate the profession a la Nevada. it is highly unlikely the Feds would ever take a position of national legalization since it would likely violate the rights of individual states to regulate activities within their borders. even if there was not a state's rights issue, I do not think the Feds need the burden of regulating any additional activities.

The argument regarding legalizing the hobby would lead to a reduction in price is not necessarily valid. Case in point are the prices at the legal Brothels in NV. Those hobbyists who have visited the legal brothels are well aware of the outrageous prices that are published in the infamous service "menus." That being said, prices end up dropping dramatically after some negotiation, but you are going to get far less "bang for your buck" (pun intended) than you will with a provider here in the valley.
