I saw PHOMANCHU's post on the bottle of scotch below and it got me thinking about having a glass :)

I know this is not related to the hobby but can anyone recommend a scotch/scotches they have enjoyed??

I currently am enjoying a bottle of Highland Park 12year that is amazingly smooth.. I hear the 18year is even better..

I just spent some time in Kentucky.  Visited a great bourbon bar in the Galt House Hotel.  Drank some very expensive small-batch bourbons, that you won't find here.  For readily-available bourbon, however, I think Woodford Reserve is an excellent choice and value (and it comes in a cool bottle).

I enjoy scotch whiskey.  Fortunately or unfortunately I'm not a connoisseur of scotch.  Actually I would have more fun being a connoisseur of providers. I always enjoy the old stand bys Dewars, Johnny Walker Red and J&B.  Recently I've found that the next step up, the 12 year old Glenlivet and Glenfiddich's taste pretty good.  I was given a  bottle of Oban which I really enjoyed. The 18 year old scotches are wasted on me.  I don't really appreciate the difference.  That is not to say that the 18 year old providers are not worthy of a taste.

Dewars, etc. is swill.  Try the Mcallan 30.  For about $900 a bottle it's a steal:)

But I enjoyed drinking it with bourbon and beer.
