For those of you who like to separate your personal lives from your provider/hobbyist lives, this information concerns you. I recently replaced my old smartphone and updated all of my contact information and apps, including Facebook, onto my new device. The contact information for all of my provider friends were also transferred onto my new phone as well. When I optioned to have the Facebook app sync up with my contact list, it linked the contact numbers of several providers that I know with their actual Facebook profiles which contain their real civilian names. The app does this whether or not your friends with them on Facebook. I let those providers affected know of the issue and they have already taken the necessary precautions. Privacy and safety are the biggest priorities in this hobby, and while I know that most of us would never think of doing anything malicious with someone else's personal information, there are a few bad seeds out there that are willing to do whatever it takes to make a buck. You can never be too cautious or too careful. If you want to prevent this breach in privacy from happening, remove your phone number from your Facebook account so that the sync function can't associate the phone numbers with the Facebook profile accounts. Hope this has been helpful.
