I would recommend Scottsdale by far. Any location is fine - either downtown or the north end as long as you have convenient access to the freeway for the guys. Just look for hotels on Scottsdale road and you can't go wrong. Enjoy your stay and if you have any questions...I'll be glad to help.

North Scottsdale is best and if you stay close to the 101 or I-17 it's a lot more convinent for guys on the west side.

Scottsdale is the better location, in particular North Scottsdale.  Although anything along Scottsdale Rd. or close to the 101 would be convenient for most folks.  Feel free to e-mail me if you have anymore questions.

I would definately say Downtown Scottsdale over Downtown Phoenix and even North Scottdale. The Dowtown area provides more activites near by when you need a break. Clubs, restaurants, galleries and shopping are all close as well as easy access from all locations with the 101 and the 202 freeways there are some nice hotels from approximately Thomas rd north on Scottsdale rd. I think you will have more to do from that area opposed to Shea and Scottsdale rd or the 101 and scottsdale rd and it is only 15 more minutes from northwest phoenix

Personally I'd recommend you avoid downtown Phoenix... traffic typically isn't all that cooperative and parking pretty much sucks.  There are lots of great hotels in the Scottsdale area.  Beyond that there's a lot of money floating around in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, and parts of North Phoenix.  And with the 101 freeway this area is definitely accessible to much of the valley.
